Then I suggest you learn about what schizophrenia is. You are not necessarily born with it. You can develop it later in life, usually teens to twenties. It can also be brought out via drug use or stress which can "release" it if you have the potential for it. So, yes, she could very well have been normal for years and developed it later on.

There are more than enough cases of this kind of thing actually happening without adding in the ravings of a schizophrenic to the mix.
