I guess it gets remade so often because it's an interesting topic.

Only two Goosebumps things ever scared me and it was more of being nightmare fuel than the episode itself. The sponge with sharp ass teeth and glowing eyes was one. Just the way it look and how the eyes glow when it was first discovered by a girl was just freaky as hell.

The 2nd was an episode about a guy with a remote that control people actions (fast forward, rewind, stop, etc) but at the end of the episode the guy broke the remote while it was fast forwarding a guy so he could win an eating contest. It was heavily implied the guy gut exploded which is pretty damn dark for Goosebumps standards. The idea of being force to eat until my bursting scare the shit out of me and is still one of the last ways I would ever want to die if given the choice. I honestly can't see how people have a weight gain/inflation fetish as that imo should be a literal nightmare even just to witness.
>>

I know this is the normie-ass answer, but nothing scared me more. I'd cry and turn off the TV as soon as I heard the scary noise that accompanied King Ramsey.
>>
>>19132975
It is a shame to think so many people were scared of this episode. I find the music curse and the "What's your offer!" joke to be stupidly funny and extremely well joke.

I think the only cartoon that legit scare me was Dexter Lab with the dead goldfish episode. They literally took the plot of a horror film and shorten it to fit in a cartoon. There were extremely little jokes and the cartoon even spoke about the spirit and the soul. To be fair I was in bed late a night during the first time I seen it and the cartoon didn't play around when it came to the horror-tier story telling.

>aunt is a legit straight-up witch. Very well known in Mexico.
>take some old tomes from her place one weekend
>play around with some forbidden texts. Say some names that should remain unspoken.
>dad finds the books and goes pale
Interlude: my dad is a normal, straight-laced guy. No nonsense. He was in the army. Very unflappable military type.
Pays his taxes. Reads the wsj. A normie and a hardass.
Back to story
>dad asks me if I have been reading his sisters books.
>Show him the invocation rituals.
>dude completely freaks out. Doesn't understand much but notices a few references about the shepherdess goat.
>calls my aunt in and she's pissed at me and worried. Does a cleansing. No guarantees. Doesn't want to hang around the house.
>for the next few months have several strange happenings around house.
>my cat dies in the middle of the night with a broken neck
>my dad's glass of scotch explodes in his hand one evening lodging glass deep in his flesh.
>locked doors are open the next morning but nothing is missing.
Anyways. Aunt does a few more cleansings over the months and things go quiet again.
Scary stuff. Laid off the magic after that but a friend I did it with at schools spread the word and now they all call me witch at school.
Bigger kids avoid me in the hallway. Teachers steer clear of me outside class.
Just writing this down again gives me the creeps

When I was a kid/early teenager we read a story in the jewish talmud where they describe how you can start seeing ghosts with some weird burnt mix of black orphan kittens and some other stuff. The talmud continues to say that somebody prepared that mix and then smeared it onto his eyes or eyelids. Some time afterwards he started seeing many more unknown people in his village. I mean many more. Like you have a village of 100 people and suddenly you see another 500 people wandering in the village. When he stared at them, they stared at him and started making faces and taking the piss with him because the ghosts figured out that the guy could see them. He went completly mad that his friends asked a famous rabbi to pray for him. After some praying the guy who could see ghosts died. Before he died his family asked what the ghosts look like. He answered that they look human but have chicken legs and feet. Ofc I called bullshit on the story but my rabbi told me that if I put flour on the ground before going to sleep I could check for myself the next day if there's signs of chicken legs imprints on the flour. Was always too scared too try it out.

There was an old tv show in the early 90s called "a current affair" which I guess was supposed to be like 60 minutes but with more sensationalism.

Dude, I read this in hebrew as a 12 year old kid. Fucked me up. My jewish friends and me have a theory how come jews have so little morals. When you teach your kid from their infancy that:

>people want to kill you for being jewish even if there's no logic behind this
>hear stories of your grandpa, dad, uncle or cousins on how they killed a nazi in WWII or a an arab during war
>study the talmud as young as 10-11 year old and read stories like that. We lose our sense of innocence very quick.

This was well over a decade ago so I don't know the name, but I was working on a school project and I happened to get distractedly by they tv and saw some weird move. The kid was eating dinner with his parents and brother and he started eating his food, green stuff I guess a pile of spinach, really fast and his parents were telling him angrily to slow down, then suddenly he shut down like a robot basically. Freaked me the fuck out as a kid, wish I knew what it was so I could watch it.

I remember this children's bible virtue book I loved reading when I was little and was pretty much engraved in my memory, it was called Christopher Churchmouse: Rainy Day Rescue

These little mice were told not to play near the drain when it's raining, they end up almost fucking drowning but were saved at the last second. I didn't realize at the time but it was a pretty fucked up story when I think back on it. This is probably not as distressing as some other posts but I'd thought I'd share it anyway.
>>
>>19133822
I don't know where that book is now but if anyone knows about it and has files/pdf, that would be awesome
>>
>>19133822
sorry, another edit.

Found the story description.
"Christopher Churchmouse doesn't set out to disobey his mother, but when his cousin convinces him to play in the gutter that's just what happens. Because of this, Christopher and Ted end up stuck in the sewer drain with a big mean rat pack who wants to enslave them. Blessedly, Murky the mole leads them to safety and reunites them with their parents. Rainy Day Rescue gently explores the importance of obedience and making the right choices."

I never understood why that show gets so much hate

I have very comfy memories of watching it with my dad
>>
My mom's a nurse and when I was younger she used to take the 3-11 shift at the nursing home, so me and my sister were usually left alone with our dad at night. We'd sit in the living room and watch pretty much whatever came on the tv, which is how this happened. I was probably 6 or 7 and I remember my dad changed the channel to find us a movie and then left for the bathroom or something. It looked like just a regular animated movie with talking rabbits... Up until one of these furry little fuckers gets caught in a snare and chokes on its own blood to death! Turns out this is a scene from "Watership Down" and it's taken me years to figure out what the fuck I'd seen.
>>
I remember when i was a kid, one day I was watching tv and i've come accross a dark anime movie, anime and manga were mostly unknown back then except for some shonen like yu yu hakusho and dbz. The scene involved a young guy or a girl( I dont remember well) in a very traditional japanese setting (dojo, old clothes). Somebody else was strangling the kid but not in a funny simpsons way... like hard as fuck then the guy stopped. After that you had a shot of the kid's neck full of red marks due to the strangulation. The scene felt very powerful and tense.

That shit traumatized for weeks. It was the first time I was watching an adult cartoon.if someone know what anime it is I'd like to see how much of a pussy i was.

My dad had to fuck with his sound system for ages to watch any movie so we sat there with the DVD menu playing. It scared me shitless. It was the attic and noises coming from it and I had to watch it for at least 15 to 30 minutes. That made the movies even scarier to me. That and the fact my brother always told my mom he needed his curtains closed before bed because aliens were watching him.

It's about an Inuit story mothers tell their kids to keep them away from cracks in the sea ice. They tell their kids these creepy as fuck women creatures called the Qallupilluit who live under the ice will grab children who go near cracks and thin ice and drag them under.

The main character is a little girl who goes out on the ice without her parents and gets caught by these things, but promises that if they let her go, she'll bring her brother and sister back with her for them. She then goes home and says fuck that, but the goddamn things show up at her house. The book had a happy ending, but the story of these fucking things and the way they were drawn was really creepy.

Pic related. Their faces are pale and fucking unsettling, so they're even worse from the front.

The only thing that truly terrified me as a kid was some sci-fi original movie or something in which this family was being visited by aliens or ghosts? I can't remember but anyway this kid is looking for his teddy bear and realizes its under his bed but he's all scared from the ayys/ghosts so it takes him a while to start reaching for it. When he does the teddy bear turns out to be possessed and snatches the kid under the bed with a huge nasty claw and kills the kid. Shit made me afraid of everything for years. Aliens/ghosts/the dark and especially stuffed animals. Anyone know what show that was btw?

Three things fucked me up as a kid, in fact they gave me a fucking phobia of robots/cyborgs/anything mechanical barely resembling humans/anything with mechanical or prosthetic parts, hell even regular dolls are pushing it, nevermind porcelain ones or even blow up dolls.

I remember watching this one movie about toy soldiers that fight alien/beast man toys, can't remember the plot but i remember a scene where one of the soldiers tried to stab a kid but the kid slapped him away and he fell in a blender (i think) and got his legs mangled.

There was also this other movie where a pair of teenagers kill a girl/run into a dead girl, one of them was in love with her so they put a chip in her brain somehow and suddenly she turns into this murderous robot, at the end she sheds all her skin and turns into a robot similar to the game&watch one.

This other scene i think is from the same movie as above, i'm not sure, but it's about some girl breaking into an old woman's house, she starts playing with a basketball until she starts bouncing it really hard and throws it at the old woman, her head fucking explodes.

In retrospect all of this seems silly but it messed with my head pretty bad, call me a pussy all you want i don't care.

>hear stories of your grandpa, dad, uncle or cousins on how they killed a nazi in WWII or a an arab during war

I'm not saying this to attack you, anon. (For all I know, you're a nice guy.) But I've got a doctorate in modern history, most of it from studying WW1 and WW2 – and if your relatives claimed they killed Nazis, they're probably fibbing. That whole 'Defiance' thing about Jewish partisans was wartime propaganda. And, although the USSR's officer corps contained many Jewish Soviet citizens, they tended to stay behind the front lines. (In today's parlance, they'd be called fobbit hobbits, the guys who do their military service behind a desk.)

Killing Arabs is much more believable, because the Jewish settlers were the only ones armed with military weapons like submachine guns, machine guns and grenades. They had easy access to such weapons, while the Arabs were under a strictly-enforced international arms embargo.

I know because my grandfather served in Palestine just after the war, when he was in the British military police. The favorite tactic of the Jewish settlers was to drive up to an Arab village at night – preferably when the men were away – and throw grenades through the windows and doors, strafe the village with machine gun fire, and drive off before the British army turned up.

My grandfather, who was a heavily-decorated professional soldier (awarded numerous medals for gallantry, and served in Europe and North Africa) said he had never seen more contemptible war crimes committed by anyone.

That fucking episode of the x-files where the guy crawls through the vents. That shit traumatized me for many years hell even thinking about it still gives me chills.
What truly made it horrible was i used to sleep on the top bunk and that shit was like 4 to 5 feet from the ceiling and the vent was 3 feet from my head. So i slept on a couch for a good 2 years.

In one of those Scooby Doo magazines there was a man stabbing himself in the leg.
My mother had to put tape all over it so wouldn't shit myself every time I look at the cover.
I was terrified of blood for no reason.

I remember coming home one night and seeing American Psycho on tv, specifically the confession scene where he talks about eating brains. I thought for a minute that it was some kind of comedy like The Mask or something but no, it was a psycho having a mental breakdown.
>>
>>19129024
this shit isn't scary now but try watching this in a theater in 2003 when jumpscares weren't worn out tropes assblasted every five seconds in a horror film

i remember the entire audience literally gasping in surprise. you don't get that kind of reaction in movie theaters anymore

I vividly remember a commercial where a some blonde teenager was running and there was a car chasing him and he slowly kept losing limbs somehow. it was for soda or something, maybe during the Super Bowl 20ish years ago. it terrified me.
>>
Can't even remember the episode title, but it was fucked up fantasy scene in Rugrats? Apparently Tommy thought he was like a doll, just trips cause FIIIK, and his leg bursts open like a stuffed animal with a busted seam?

My 5 year old mind is like, mfw this is weird fuckd up shit my brain wouldn't even think up, but apparently babies do?

so I remember something weird about this show....

I swear when it first came out that the robot character talked with a robot-like voice...I specifically remember the rubix cube episode....

but the show seemed to go away for a bit or something, and when it comes back on the voice has changed to a little kids voice....

I mean maybe im just crazy...was pretty young when this came out....but...

The story about the plagues of Egypt. I was raised in a Christian family and this one fucked me up a bit. I mean, the water changing into blood, locusts, dying children... I don't think it was appropriate for a preschooler.

My aunt was killed while we were hot-potting.

>eight
>family goes to Yellowstone
>dad ignores all the warnings and decides to go hot-potting with all of us
>we find a secluded area, climb over the fences and look around for a spring cool enough to get in
>im up front with dad, holding his hand
>suddenly we hear a splash and screaming
>look back
>my aunt is standing waist deep in water
>she's just screaming, she's not even trying to move
>everything is a blur but at the same time crystal clear
>she tries to take a step forward but she stumbles and goes in over her head
>when she comes back up she's not screaming anymore
>she's covered in blisters
>her skin is bright white and slipping off
>she looks down at one of her hands
>pulls the skin off slowly like a glove
>her hair is falling out into the water
>she looks at us
>her eyes are white and cloudy
>she tries to scream again but all that comes out is this gurgling squeal
>she falls face first into the water
>she doesn't come back up
>mom is in shock, keeps saying aunt's name
>she keeps trying to go into the pool but dad won't let her
>everyone is screaming and sobbing
>dad picks me up and tells me not to look
>i saw everything

Holy Christ, that is horrific. Just read up about a 23yo dude who met the same fate. The springs in Yellowstone reach around 200 degress and have a high PH level, I believe the article stated a 5.
There is no coming back from falling into one of those springs.
Still cringing.

This mother fucker right here is my earliest memory. I saw it on tv one day and ran under a table screaming for help hoping the Cyclops's roar would stop.

Ironically, I became a huge fan of Harryhausen and have now learned to love the cyclops.

Okay, someone tell me they know the name of this movie.

It was at least 10 years ago and would run on ScIFi channel, so it might be one of those cheesy Asylum films or some other B company.

Some film about a kind of energy draining creatue? Made of like, organic tentacles or shit, and any kind of light or heat would cause it to grow. The really fucked up scene I was remember was some dude looking at slides of it under a microscope, a film real running in the background in an otherwise dark room. Something happens between him and another chick in the room, and he ends up holding the slide of the creature's tissue, and either his body head or the light from the projector or something causes the tissue to rapidly grow, invading right under his fingernail and into his arm, where it grows inside his body in seconds killing and tearing him apart from the inside.

Anyone know what movie this was?
