Let me tell you something about gas giants. Jupiter has 67 moons. It has one almost as big as Mars.

There's someone who's half-assedly thinking "space is cool", but thinking "gee we only have eight planets".. while there's a whole world of terrestrial objects in our very solar system that people don't give a shit about because they're not labeled as "planets".

This is why astronomers are cutting their wrists by the dozen, because they don't want to live in this planet anymore where people just glance at these photos and think "well thats cool well I'm hungry time to go buy a Big Mac".

So I guess this photo of Jupiter is cgi...

flying above or into a gas giant has to be one of the most hellish experience there is. It's like the devil vomiting in your face for eternity and that vomit is made of death, confusion and hostility and fear. The most nightmarish trip imaginable, like glitching through a video-game floor falling into nothingness x100.
