A solar day is exactly 24 hours. It's based on the sun, and after 24 exact hours, the sun will be in the exact same position it was 24 hours ago.

A sidereal day is slightly less than 24 hours, and is how long it takes for the earth to complete one exact 360 degree rotation.

It's the same r^-2 dependency so the math works out exactly the same except that gravity is only attractive.
But it's okay if you didn't know this.

Gravity crushes things into a sphere. If the sphere is spinning centrifugal force is applied. If it's a moderate amount of centrifugal force, it becomes an oblate spheroid. If it's a tremendous amount of centrifgual force, it would flatten out into something like a disk, a galaxy for example.

None of this has anything to do with the flat earth model.
