Hey, astrologically inclined friends! Could you please help me understand the significance of a Moon and Venus residence in house eight? I've been trying my best to interpret my natal chart, but I can't seem to grasp this bit.
Maybe we can use this thread to discuss our initial attractions to astrology as well?
Up until recently, I never thought of astrology as more than just those cookie cutter horoscopes you read in the newspaper. But I have started to present a more open mind to that which happens on a less objective or observable level. I've been consumed by this uncontrollable urge to learn about myself and my connection to the world. I stumbled upon a divination thread, and followed a link to create my natal chart. Eager to have someone read me, I returned to post it, only to find the thread was removed. So I just used the tools on astro.com to do it myself. I'm blown away by how accurate nearly EVERYTHING is. I can't believe how many aspects of myself were described so precisely. Now I'm hooked. :3
It's definitely unsettling, but it's helping me put my life into perspective, and providing me with a tool or improving my time in this existence.

OK, OP, here's some quick sentences I grabbed from an old book. The hard work is putting all the info together and seeing how it relates to the chart. Bear in mind these dispositions are modified by aspects. And always check against other sources. (sorry - no time to give more detals right now.) The key to interpretation is in synthesis.
Moon in Aries:
Unpredictable character; volatile and adaptable. Rather unreal view of reality.
Predisposed to scatteredness.
Oversensitivity
Mood swings, fevers, insomnia, constipation. Possible head injuries.
Venus in Aries:
Intense, risk taking love.
Unbalanced, moody, adultery.
Feminised male, masculine female.
Moon in 8:
Intuition, intense imagination.
Volatile life situation.
Possible premature loss of spouse or mother.
Risk of squandering all the inheritance away.
Worries, arguments, even agoraphobia and suicidal ideation if hard aspects.
Premonitions and dreams.
Venus in 8:
Calm in the face of death.
Chances of an inheritance, smooth easy living.
Love affairs go as quickly as they arrived, (depending on partner's chart).
Separations, divorces may cause strong emotional/mental problems if hard aspects.
