Honestly it seems like she has some money or health issues. The ten of pentacles dealing with longevity would suggest that she is feeling that maybe her way of life is at risk in some way (either financially or by physical health as stated before). She is trying to keep it all together. Seems she doesn't want to seem weak, but she is quite unraveling on the inside. All you need are a deck and a book that teaches you how to use it.

Rider-Waite is a highly recommended first deck for beginners and has many books written for you, plus there are many artistic clones of the deck that can appear more pleasing to your eye.

For books on that deck, you can use the Pictorial Key to the Tarot, but I recommend 78 Degrees of Wisdom or Holistic Tarot. You can find Holistic Tarot in GDfriend's MEGA archive up in OP.

I've seen it, but I use the Golden Dawn, Rider-Waite and Marseille tarots. It's just as useful as any other tarot, really; it's just a matter of whether or not you like the deck's art, but for a book to study from, if you think the white book isn't enough, look at the Magical Tarot of the Golden Dawn by Pat and Chris Zalewski.

Adding to that, especially about the first point.

Don't sugar-coat any bad news and don't ever go against your gut feeling about what you feel is wrong. Tarot's about giving proper advice that the querent can use to fix their ways, such that any possibly bad situation can be avoided (the future isn't written in stone).

It's a tool to help the querent correct their own flaws, though more unsavoury people would use it for fortune-telling and pretending that future events WILL happen with certainty. It only ever shows the things that might be and it's up to the reader to understand how to help the querent improve things for themselves.

Not him, but I think of the minor arcana as an expansion of the major. Each number in the minor corresponds to a given trump, and the four suits are parrallel versions of the same story in a sense, each showing the aspect of The Fool's Journey that intersects with it. It's hard to explain, but it makes more sense if you think of arrays in programming.

In occultist terms, it's as Jesus was; the alpha and the omega; even in Revelations, the apocalypse isn't the end of the world. And in the beginning, the was only the Word.

Technically, the order you take the cards is up to you; Fool as 0 and the World as 21, then the minors... Or Magician as 1 and the Fool as 22, followed by the minors, or you can start with the minors and choose any order for the majors. But my opinion is that they're all equally important.
