In my experience, most of the spooky stuff in the DMV is kind of dangerous. Most of it is dilapidated architecture and sections of the Chesapeake bay where the tide can come in too fast. Sometimes, a transient lives in an abandoned place, and they might be violent.

Not far from Columbus, about an hour away. I'm in this small town called Washington Court House. The house isn't haunted in the Taps haunting where stuff will fly out at you, it's not a poltergeist. Instead, guest comment on the off feeling they get and how they feel weighed down after being in the house for so long. This died down after I started the burning/smudging but, like I said, the protection slowly wears off. From the limited information I've managed to get about a house that's over a hundred years old, I think the ghost died in a fire.
