As someone who's style was once considered very flat and visually clustered, I'd have to disagree with you there, anon. Besides, you have a nice, clean hatching style that makes me appreciate it from a technical level since I extensively use hatching in my own work. Your skeleton-dude also have this expressive quality that blends both dread and whimsy. I like it!

As far as requests go, how about a stout, bearded old man in an unkempt suit with a REALLY tall top hat with barbs sticking out of it? Maybe he's dragging an old sag behind him too, if you want to include that.

This is a painting I did in secondary school, of the first true sleep paralysis visual hallucination I'd recently had. This figure sort of 'reverse melted' out of the floor and glided toward my bed in my boarding school dorm room, standing over me for several moments before I woke up.

Done in gouache with oil pastel over it.

I welcomed Eyes to critiquing my work in an honest way several months back when the /x/ OC threads were still a thing. The manner in which he types his criticism is notably rude in nature, yes. I don't mind if it's about my work since I can filter through the vulgarity and take note of what he's suggesting I should fix. However, I agree that the tone of his criticism should be less vulgar if he continues to critique in the thread (or in future future threads) as most people so far don't approve of it. No offense to you, Eyes. I do appreciate your criticism, but perhaps you should improve on how you express it.

Finished the cross-etching, all those lines. I love how it gets all murky muddy and ugly.
Might clean it up and color it.

Does anyone have the name/pics of that one artist who drew with heavy shades of red and shadows? The most vague description I have is some red silhouette that is chilling in what looks like a subway made of flesh.

that's cool, anons. i use Pigma Micron pens, rapidograph, Hunt quill nibs, W&N round brushes and liner brushes. also, i incorporate other techniques such as collage and many others. lots of interesting good quality work in this thread.

Certainly no one in this thread is going to be the next Michaelangelo, but that doesn't mean they can't post here anyway. Yes sometimes, you are right about that.However critics are always going to fly no matter what. trolls will always troll. Best artist learn to take what they can use and learn to ignore the rest. Artists need a bit of roughness for the sake of sanity since its so much of their personal that is put into their drawings. People crying over something they could just have ignored is stupid. i havent talked booty to anyone else because I know they wouldn't want it the way. that's the reality. IMO, ideally seen, artists are fragile and ought to get a bit off their self-centered arrogance/worth issues/handling of critique.
I don't want to waste my time on someone who wouldnt get the right kind of provocation out of it, though. You know, for inspiration, to be challenged and see all critique as stepping stones regardless of content, to get better and evolve and in the end be happier with it. Because if someone says something about your art it means they notice you. They are really keeping an eye out on your art. And that's the best kind of feedback to get. IMO

Artists ARE fragile, and for some reason someone has given you enough trust to guide them, and you just make fun of their style while providing tips, when you would only have to give tips. Your own ego and arrogance are what's driving you to be overly harsh on him.

You don't have to have both critique and personal attacks. You can have only critique and some encouragement.

I think your art's ok, I think his is ok, and not everything has to look the same for it to have the same merit.

I think you being a cock to Keeper is what killed the draw threads a few months ago.

I miss Pixel Abyss. Everyone gave him shit over his style back when he was first making his comic threads, but with a little positive encouragement, he improved quite a lot. No matter where you go, carrot usually works better than stick. I know you and Keeper have your thing, but try not to creat such a seemingly hostile environment in the next thread. It just results in bitching and fewer drawfags contributing.
