Thus, if the Bearenstein/Bearenstain ME developed the "right" name, the media could just pass it off as people being unable to tell anime and reality apart.

I've honestly believed this for quite a while, and certainly remember the time when there were "rumors," of Miley being dead in the desert. Though back in the day when they were made there weren't the specific details about what exactly happened, but with all of the prior things mentioned in the questions adding up perfectly, I wouldn't be surprised that she did just what they said, seeing her character prior to the rumors. I do believe that media is heavily controlled and certain ideas are pushed to benefit particular groups, I don't think the Illuminati adds up and it's rather forced into any conspiracy.
