Let's talk x files. What episodes do you enjoy? What twists and characters did you enjoy or dislike? I didn't really like how Alex Krycek was actually a Russian spy, he didn't seem competent enough.

My all time favorite scene was the exchange between Mulder and Deep Throat at the end of the episode titled 'Deep Throat'

Deep Throat: Mr. Mulder, why are those like yourself who believe in the existence of extra-terrestrial life on this earth not dissuaded by all the evidence to the contrary?

Mulder: Because, all the evidence to the contrary is not entirely dissuasive.

Deep Throat: Precisely!

Mulder: They're here, aren't they?

Deep Throat: Mr. Mulder, *they*'ve been here for a long, long time.

Absolutely. It's on Netflix if you don't want to go through the hassle of pirating. There are tons of episodes so great show to binge watch.

Would /x/ consider the x-files one of the greatest shows of all time?
>>
>>18792048
It is probably some of the best /tv/ made just because of how influential it is. The buddy cop best friend dynamic invented shipping on the internet, Scully's character Increased female enrollment in hard sciences and criminal justice careers by an observable amount, and the myth arc and monster of the week format for episodes is some of the best balancing of making an episode for casual viewers and creating a season long story for die hard fan of any show.

It gets less great after the show runners relocated to California to be closer to home in the later seasons. Lots of the creative team stayed in Vancouver and the feel changed.
>>
>>18792042
They've been talking about it but it's apparently a scheduling issue. Gillian Anderson is the holdup
>>
>>18792926
Went downhill severely around season 6 or 7 I think. The last season that Duchovny was in full time and on were terrible. The newest though was not bad at all. Loved the return of the gunmen for his shroom trip. I literally cried the episode they died. It was a terrible, disrespectful, shitty way to write them out and was a complete fuck you from Fox to Chris Brown because they blamed him for the gunmens show bombing and losing a billion dollars
>>
>>18791371
Speaking of Kyrcek, it bothered me how he kept showing up in the FBI building. He was not CSM, and CSM wanted him dead half the time, so that was bullshit
>>
>>18794172
I will definitely admit though that when it came out that the burned guy wasn't actually Mulder but was Krycek, that caught me off guard. Total surprise. Plus it was cool that he was there as a witness for Mulder in that farce of a trial at the end.
>>
WTF was that one episode when a deformed man liked Cher?

>Let's talk x files. What episodes do you enjoy? What twists and characters did you enjoy or dislike? I didn't really like how Alex Krycek was actually a Russian spy, he didn't seem competent enough.

I only watched it until like Season 6/7ish then I realized it wasn't going anywhere really (apparently TV Tropes calls this the "Chris Carter Effect" in his honor) - just endless cliffhangers and spaghetti macro-plots.

But there are some fun individual episodes - but I can't really think of them.

I liked the episode Elegy. For some reason that one stands out to me when I try to think of X-Files episodes that left an impact. There aren't that many that left a large impact that I can remember.

Skinner is my favorite character.

I think I liked that episode where he was being framed for murdering women or something. I think it was by a ghost but I don't remember.

There's not much of X-Files I remember - probably because it further on the "mindless entertainment" side of the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre than the kind of shows that leave impacts on me. Not that there's a lot of "deep" Sci-Fi/Fantasy - but X-Files is further on the "fluff entertainment" for that genre's spectrum.
>>
>>18796407
Elegy is great.

You might be thinking of Zero Sum or Avatar.

I like all the episodes featuring The Lone Gunmen

And the silly ones where mulder and scully are cute like when they go to hollywood
>>
>>18791371
My favorite episode is probably Fallen Angel, where Deep Throat alerts Mulder of a UFO crash contained by the government and ends up being detained, meeting Max for the first time and later you find Deep Throats true intentions. I think it has all the accurate qualities if this were to happen or has happened irl. And Mulder's speech at his testimony is inspirational almost.

>>18797802
>Hollywood
Fuck that one cracked me up, just the way they poked at their romantic relationship (or lackthereof) and how displeased Mulder was with who played him.
That's another thing I think they did right: they didn't pair them as a couple (at least for most of the show), but had very subtle hints that something might be there and didn't make it like the focus of the show.

Skinner is probably my favorite too. Idk what it is. I remember him saying he kept Mulder and the X-Files because he himself was too fearful to go into the paranormal, but Mulder wasn't. He's just so innocent about it, but still a believer and will stick up for his crew. He's so professional that it's funny, at times.

Hating Bad Blood is blasphemy, but I can't speak for Hollywood A.D. because I need to see it again. I think it was in the "too cheesy" category though.

They got really bad at that in the later seasons. They started doing too many corny, goofball episodes without any of the wit or humor of the early ones, which was another sign of the decay of the series.

For some reason, I liked the Monster of the Week episodes the best.
The overarching alien/government conspiracy plot was just a garbled mess in my opinion.

The Host (tapeworm mutant)
Ice (parasitic alien worms)
Darkness Falls (glowy spiders)
Tooms (stretchy cannibal)
Pusher (hypnotic suggestion killer)
