Could it be possible that a number of versions of the boogeyman, or sack man is based off of the same mythological creature?, one that kidnaps bad children, drags them off to the spirit world. Has no true form, but is always cloaked? Give me theories, ideas. Some type of being from the spirit world? Has anyone been to the spirit world?, maybe have heard about an ancient being like that?

I read a post on here somewhere that when reading about gods and such you should try to focus on the archetypes rather than the specific god itself. It's probably the same with boogeymen and the like, but honestly I have no idea.
