I can't really prove you wrong because I've only had success in reading for myself. I think the easiest way to understand Tarot at the beginning is the use of Tarot cards to gain understanding, instead of to predict the future or whatever.

Like, you ask a question like "Ok so what the fuck is wrong with me that I keep repeating x mistake?" or "I can't get over x why the fuck not? i'm a smart guy."

and then you shuffle, choose cards, whatever, and then use what the cards mean/symbolize to interpret the things you're missing in understanding your problem. I've had nothing but success that way. It's totally fine to to believe in it though.
