Dark matter/energy has a basis because we can at least observe discrepancies in galactic formations. Can't observe ghosts and demons besides Bill the cameraman thumping on the walls to make the ghost hunting show more exciting.

I could also say that ghost sightings have a basis because we can at least observe discrepancies in video recordings, witness statements etc. however fallible they may be. Or UFO sightings have a basis because we can at least observe discrepancies in flight manoeuvres/actions in radar or video recordings, pilot testomony etc.

I feel that your claim also wrong in that if we were to understand something it ceases to be paranormal. Paranormal defined by the Cambridge dictionary is: "impossible to explain by known natural forces or by science". We don't assume dark-energy is paranormal just because we don't have proof of its existence in the present moment. Events like a UFO sighting are considered paranormal because they are outside the normal rational realm of verifiable, explainable phenomena.

I ask for proof to back up the claim of ghosts, or other UFO phenomena just like cosmologists are looking for proof of dark-energy. Yes it likely is absolute bullshit but I'm on my 6th whiskey and want some damn evidence damn it. Damn.

Yeah but I can go out right now and observe those reports with a telescope. If I could similarly trigger an EVP the conversation would shift to wanting to find an explanation for the phenomenon, rather than trying to prove the phenomenon even exists.
