I just think we evolved into caring about things no animal has ever cared about, you know.
And caring about those things might have attracted some things beyond comprehension.
I think those powers might just have seen animals as lifeless toys, until the toys started noticing weird shit happening and revolted, noticed that revolting did nothing, then slowly evolved into worshippers instead. Something like that.
And AYYs = higher entities in my book.
