Is your computer a mind control device?

The devices themselves or perhaps the games and apps, etc., shaping your ideals and how you think?

Consider the following:
in both gaming and political science, they are known as "time sinks"
basically they occupy the users time while not really benefiting them in anyway.

Perhaps what governments do is they put propaganda and other ideals into games and have the population spend their time playing the pointless games rather than say get involved in politics or become smarter; For example: ever wonder why COD and a few other similar games have funding from the US military? What better way to get the next generation to learn learn military jargon and procedures/protocol?
