I've seen this exact same thing but the lights were orange. Tried taking some pics, none of them turned out. Some dude on plebbit used some filter on them and saw a glare from an unseen light on the camera though.

I ran a picture of it through lightroom and brought it out, turned out the lights were actually kind of red. (or maybe Im just an idiot.)

Didn't happen to me, but a friend once told me about an experience they had after an earthquake.
They were outside with family when a bunch of lights came spinning out above them and near the mountains.
Wish I knew more.

I can probably dig it up. Someone who lives a few hours north of me saw it a few hours before I did heading my direction, then someone else who lives east of me saw it coming from my direction not too long after I saw it.
