Sometimes when I go to bed at night I hear these strange sounds downstairs. They are like dropping and cracking noises but not as high in pitch.
Does anyone else experience this? What could it be?
I had a decorator come a few years ago. She went to spiritualist meetings and said my house wasn't haunted and had a good vibe if that helps.

Hypnogogic auditory hallucinations.
When I was a kid I would hear sounds like someone hitting a wooden cup bottom with a wooden spoon when falling asleep. It always sounded like it was coming from another room, but when I (sleepily) went to that room it would sound like it was coming from the room I just left. I heard this in different houses (now and then) until I was almost 20. I've heard other sounds too, like metal clanging, or loud bells and tones.

I have a piano that cracks about 5 minutes after every time the central heating system turns on or off. It's spooky but it happens so reliably that I don't give a shit anymore.
Don't feed energy to the static cloud, fear, joy, anger, frustration, all forms of emotional and physiological exertion are energy, eat your own food.
