Anybody here study cryptids? If so I am looking for help to figure out what has been lurking around my house lately.
I live in rural Appalachia in the U.S., out in the boonies. I've been hearing a "whooping" sound. The first time I heard it, I was walking my dog around the house and hear it in the woods. It would go "whoop whoop.....whoop whoop..." and then go silent. I know various birds and raccoons do make a "whoop" sound, but it wasn't a screech. It was in the same tone level as if a human were to say "whoop".
Tonight makes the second night I heard it, but this time has me on edge. I wake up at 2 am to what sounds like 2 or 3 dogs being tortured and mutilated maybe 100 yards from my house inside of the woods. I freak the fuck out and go look outside, my dog is freaking the fuck out looking inside the woods. And then I hear it again "whoop whoop.... whoop whoop"
Anybody know what this may be?
Possibly a cryptid known as the juggalo picture for reference. Be safe stay away from magnets.

Probably an owl of some sort. The freaky non-whoops might've been a big heron though. I heard one fight a great horned owl once, sounded like rodan.

sounds like a pack of yotes' dude
You should probably keep your dog inside
>It would go "whoop whoop..."
Sounds like a pack of methed up Juggalos to me. Leave some Faygo outside to calm them down.
And never yell "Shitdick".
