I actually think SCPs like the bears one are just fine in the SCP universe, its funny to people because its a strange wacky premise but the whole idea of SCP's is that they are anomalous phenomena, that doesn't mean they have to be something humans would consider serious or not funny and scary or whatever.

I just read Cousin Johnny, thanks to all the mentions here. It was sort of awesome, but in the end it didn't quite work for me. There's too much that doesn't make sense, with people getting their bodies messed up but then going back to their normal lives apparently, with no explanation of how they rationalize their physical disfigurements, and then their lives fall apart in subtle ways... as if being inexplicably deafened or detoothed at your wedding wouldn't already be reason enough for you to spiral into a bad place, no there has to be a subtle magic dooming them on top of that... it's weird and clumsy. Also the very specific numbers of dead cicadas and crap, and the cicada references in general, are contrived and silly. Like, that is not how you make a mystery. It's just random superficial detail; it doesn't hint at any greater order beyond our knowledge.

Real creepy though. I liked that aspect of it.

Wow, that one seems like a parody of violent creepypastas or something. Most of that stuff seemed pointlessly intense just for the sake of being edgy. It wasn't even interesting; all I felt was the writer being as over-the-top gory and disgusting as possible. "Be disturbed..." "Aaaaahhhh~!"
