What /x/-tier video games do you like?
I know it's really fucking weird and satirical but I really love Space Funeral.
Not sure if this counts, but I've been meaning to check out/but a game called Glitchhikers. It's basically a game where you're driving along at night and you pick up alien hitchhikers and they spill some really existential shit.
>>18488854
terrible, do not bother.
>>18488830
Love that game.
Closure
>>18488830
Darkest dungeon
Most people on /x/ would probably like
Shin Megami Tensei IV apocalypse on the 3DS.
It's an RPG game about collecting demons to fight other demons in a end world scenario where Earth has been taken over by demons.
You also have paranormal abilities, and a book where you can fuse demons together.
There are also Angels, but for the most part they kill demons and they don't seem to care about humans. Haven't beat the game yet because it's long, but it's pretty amazing so far.
>>18488830
I really liked F.E.A.R, fps with scary powerful ghost girl.
>>18488830
Cave! Cave! Deus videt is good. The history lesson was very interesting. Armada was fun as well. Both available on gamejolt.
Space Funeral is GOAT
>>18490817
smt Iv was way better, just thought I'd throw that out there. Also everything with the Shin Megami Tensei label will have some of those elements in common.
catherine is sorta /x/ I think.
fuckin maniac mansion NES
Yume Nikki is still my personal favorite
>>18491156
EXPLODE THE HAMSTER
Anything good for android? I already got emulators for everything ps1 plus psp. Been playing Zombies Ate My Neighbors amn Castlevania: SOTN.
>>18491564
seconding this
Making a horror game at the moment.
Suggestions?
hey it's the text based japanese horror game maestro. i recognize your syntax. how's the game going? dude you're so talented holy shit
for what it's worth i think your game could really use a ravenous horde of mutant animals
>>18491700
I'd say throw in a crack head who sinks around but is irrelevant to the story in every way as an Easter egg.
>>18491700
for an easter egg, make it seem like it was all a simulation all along, just like this reality is.
that's pretty horrifying when you first realize it, but then you sort of just come to terms with it.
By far, the best /x/-tier game I played is Sonic.exe
>>18491156
>dat soundtrack
>dat pump-up opening scene
>dat multiple solutions
>dat multiple endings
>dat atmosphere
>dat comedy
>dem spooks
Maniac Mansion will be in my top 5 until the day I die, and though your screenshot is not from it, you are right, the NES version is the definitive port despite a handful of minor censorship changes.
That game is so good, it turns 30 this year and holds right the fuck up.
>>18491925
kek, was about to post this.
there is also that sequel i never played.
>>18491925
>oh no, the power is out!
>don't worry I just found out where the curcuit breaker is.
>its in the basement!
yeah mario can fuck off in that painting forever my dude.
>>18489065
the them, but i dunno man. i liked it. it wasnt really a game exactly, it was more of a visual novel with some janky cool visuals. but hey to each their own senpai.
side note, assuming anyone else has played glitchhikers, am i the only one who got a distinctly night vale feeling from it?
Touhou is pretty paranormal because it's about a bunch of cute monstergirls that only exist because of meme magic
>>18491910
shit
silent hill 2 is much better
Sunless Sea, it's quite nice, roguelike but has Eldritch themes to it.
>>18492435
I think silent hill 2 is a better game technically,
but I prefer the first one, too.
>>18490829
Just finished playing through F.E.A.R. again.
It's good but I'm always surprised by how short and how little variety there is in it.
Could have done a lot more with it really.

lsd dream emulator
Make way for the scariest fucking game THAT WILL SPOOK U BAD
http://www.bogleech.com/spooky/DONTGETSPOOKED.html
space funeral is great! Princess Remedy games felt similar. my favorite /x/-ish game recently was Oxenfree (tho its horror/spooky lite, it is very much paranormal).
if you like LSD dream emulator, you may enjoy this weird exploration thing called 2:22AM (its pretty limited tho... more than LSD.) also static speaks my name was kinda unnerving. very short, though.
Game's wicked /x/
Spoilers if you care or haven't played. Would "spoiler" it but I'm not gold
>The games a fucking dream or something
>You dad turned into cthulhu through ritualistic sacrafice via the mysterious stranger in your party and the most powerful summoner in the land
>Crosses timelines to fuck up a city in which all the work is done by machines and everyone just sits around and watches underwater soccer
>It's a Final Fantasy game, so summons and magic and shit
>Technology is banned by God
>You kill God.
Also another /x/ related game that doesn't seem it, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater.
Some /x/ tier games I really dig:
Hylics: A weird surrealist rpgmaker game that uses claymation for a lot of the visuals. God-tier soundtrack and some really bizarre/unnerving moments
Corpse Party: A classic Japanese horror game with a lot of really strange and interesting twists
Goblet Grotto: From the guy that made space funeral. At times totally nonsensical but has a very strange feel to it.
CryptWorlds: This one is great, because the world it takes place in is really surreal and very /x/
Worlds Online: Classic /x/ game, surprised I haven't seen a thread about it in a long time
>>18492705
fun fact: the guy who made goblet grotto and space funeral is friends with the girls who made cryptworlds.
>no one posted this yet
>>18491910
YES.
Sweet Home NES
>>18491564
Yume Nikki is good, but I liked .flow a lot more
>>18491700
dont make it a bunch of low quality jumpscares, focus on the atmosphere
White day.
I think it needs another download for English language .
I couldn't finish. Not because it wasn't good, but I was drunk and forgot about it until now- so many months later.
>>18491156
holy fuck yes. I played this shit out of this when I was little.
Play "Day of the Tentacle" if you havent.
Also, Dave's Theme best theme:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRxeXnMBejY
>>18490817
hell just play any of the smt games. especially if you like post-apocalyptic games. they usually take place during or after the end of the world.
>>18491700
A frightening plot doesn't make a good horror game. Frightening gameplay does.
If you can work them in unison then you've found your sweet spot, though.
Majora's Mask will forever be the greatest /x/ game
Man I wish Zelda would go back to that atmosphere instead of the direction they're going with Breath of the Wild.
>>18492579
>I didn't understand the game: the post
>>18488830
Chzo Mythos
>>18488830
Pathologic
You are a survivor exploring a small village in the countryside trying to figure out why people have started dying to a mysterious plague with no known cause or cure. Lots of /x/ themes throughout.
Undertale
>>18492499
excellent boob physics, yes yes
Alan Wake was pretty good desu
Duskers
>>18496322
Athmospheric, in a cheesy kind of way. I liked it, but I went into it wit pretty low expectations after all the bad press it got.
>>18492442
If it wasn't so god damn slow to play. It's not like it's boring, it needs to be slow... but who has time for that?
>>18496223
Other than all the characters but Frisk being monsters, and that really freaky section in Alphys' lab, it's not very /x/ themed. Maybe the stuff about Gaster. Maybe.
Yume Nikki, Yume 2kki, .flow, Me, Lcd Dem..

>>18492705
How's the sequel to Cryptworlds?
Anything new?
Anything by Frictional is good. SOMA is a masterpiece, Amnesia is great eldrich material and fun, and Penumbra is just pretty fun and interesting, but by far the easiest.
>>18497600
The first one!
Release order is the best way to do anything in nearly every case.
>>18497600
Want story? 1st.
Sloops? 4th.
>>18498558
Spoops. The fuck phone..
>>18496871
This game is awesome. Everything is so eerie.
>>18492705
Worlds Online used to have threads here all the time, I completely forgot about that. It was such a weird game, if you could call it a game...I wonder if it's still even running.
Glad someone else remembers it, thank you for reminding me, brings back memories of /x/ from years ago...though I think I saw a thread about it not too long ago. Not sure, don't spend enough time here anymore.
Does anyone have that one webm of the game that's underwater and you can see a ship in the background, but something activates night vision and it turns out to be a giant monster?
>>18497600
Play 1, 2, 3 and the Room only. The rest are shit.
You can play them in almost any order but always play 1 before 3
I'd say start with the first one because the graphics have aged badly, so it'll feel better when yoy play the following ones.
>dat SH1 Intro
You'll get chills
>>18499527
it's still running. I felt the same way so i redownloaded it and chatted with a few people
>>18500014
Is it still filled with very odd people? I remember there used to be regulars, some of whom would come to /x/ and spread their oddness/arguments here. Made for some confusing yet entertaining threads.
>>18499602
that sounds interesting, i'd like to see this webm too
Amnesia before it turned meme pewdiepieshit-tier
As stupid as it is, Deadly Premonition is in my top 5. It's like a fucking trainwreck. And the spoopy parts can actually be pretty spoopy. It's like an emotional roller coaster of rage inducing shit gameplay, hilarity, and actual creepy stuff all within 30 seconds of eachother. You go from wanting to quit, to laughing, to feeling a little freaked out.
>>18493066
>girls
They're trannies
>>18488830
The fear series was pretty great
BLOODRAYNE
I definitely think this counts.
The Secret World.
It's basically /x/ the vidya.
'I'm scared'
>>18501320
Whoa what is this?
>>18501779
Wish I knew, but I saved that webm three years ago and can't remember anything about it or the source. Just that it's a game.
Lone survivor is a excellent horror survival game, right up /x/'s alley. Tackles issues like the human psyche and keeping yourself intact during an apocalypse scenario. It's on steam for like 10 bucks. Would recommend so long as you don't mind the pixel graphics.
Silent hill 1-3
3 being my favorite
Plus one for "Pathologic". Superb, creepy and somewhat abstract atmosphere.
>>18503629
2 > 3
Oh, someone mentioned "Parasatie Eve". First two parts are by all means /x/. Leave 3rd out.

Brah SMT4A sucks, it retcons the rest of the series tremendously and has the worst asspulls in the history of the series barring Jewsona 4. SMT Nocturne is where it's at.
>>18503726
Even 2 is debatable
>>18488830
The beast within,11th hour and ripper, some old point and click games on pc that are spooky

>>18488830
Deus Ex is so fucking good. I've been playing this game and i really love it, the story is so fucking well made it's honestly impressive, and it's filled with conspiracy theories so i'm sure /x/ would love this shit
>>18491700
give it a good soundtrack, it's really important for the atmosphere and feel of your game
>>18496871
This game was my favorite for a very long time, i have really good memories of me playing this shit. Also the artwork is just incredible, the dude who drew everything in that game has his style figured out.
Oh boy, something I'm good at.
>Puzzle
Irisu Syndrome. Ai To Yuuki To Kashi Wa Mochi is made by the same guy, and also similarly spooky.
>Adventure (but mostly made with a RPGMaker engine)
Dreaming Mary. Holy shit. There's like 5 endings though, and try and go through the game at least twice blind before you run to a guide. I know it looks pink and girly, but it's good.
Misao and Mad Father are also pretty good, although the deaths are sometimes bullshit. Just assume everything will kill you.
If you want more games that use the RPGMaker engine/other engines, check out VGPerson. They translate all these wacky horror games from Japan.
>Haven't Played
Pony Island looks kinda neat, and I have Yomawari: Night Alone on my wishlist. Again, haven't played them but they look interesting.
>>18494095
>You didn't understand the game: the post
Unless your trying to take things deeper
>>18503868
Thank you based Anon.
>>18491700
what is it about?
>>18507013
You play a private detective looking for a missing person in a small redneck ghost town that's been abandoned for decades, which spirals into a conspiracy involving the occult and otherworldly monsters/demons. Wanna have the player taking photos of shit and collecting information for a conspiracy wall that you setup, which gradually explains the story and backstory.
Essentially it's 'Rust Cohle investigates Silent Hill and finds Deadites and Cosmic Horrors: The Game', not particularity original but it's hard to resist.
Fran bow was p good
I would highly suggest The Secret World (as I do every thread of this sort). Sure it's an MMO, but it plays 90% solo nicely. The stories are solid, the lore is fun to collect and read and the missions and characters are pretty nifty. The investigation missions are fucking fun if you like puzzle solving, and you feel surprisingly accomplished when you figure it out.
