The Holy Spirit comes directly inside the believers themselves. It's not something you can summon apart from that bond usually acquired through ceremony of Baptism.

As for the salt circle, think of it more as a focusing aide for the magician. It can help ground out energies that cross it, much like flakes of iron might. It's just very very cheap. Also convenient to form your circles when you're on the go rather than in a sanctified spot.

No but I can pluck em after a rainy day and drop em in the maze.
By changing the salt paths I can carry out rudimentary calculations too, kinda like a computational logic unit. More computational power if I have more slugs.

I would assume the spirit would both exist and not exist in the cube as per the copenhagen interpretation.
That would be a bit risky since you would need to directly observe to collapse the wave function, which means opening the salted cube and potentially letting out an angry demon.
