The plants aren't going to help. The good guys... aren't in charge. Not by and large. Planting 12 trees will not help. Planting 3,000 trees will not help. Now think about how hard it is to reverse CO2 emissions from a country with the greatest population density and industrial throughput. Where flights can be cancelled because of how thick the sky gets. There isn't a soul in hell that could fix any of that, not even if we decided to be as special snowflake as possible, and stopped crude, but tried and true methods of energy production and materials processing.

If the very bottom of the food chain gets fucked, we get fucked. Forget bees, unless we miraculously have a GMO variant of plankton, that we know how to play God with, our collective time here may soon be forfeit.

We're past the threshold of certain affect. Unplugging two-thirds of the world's industrial pollution, right now, today, would still leave us with a few problems to deal with. You know that's not going to happen. It's unrealistic to suggest that, for many reasons. And since that is the case, it doesn't matter what tariffs are imposed. We're far from saved. The problem of mass pollution isn't fixed, especially if only China is in your scopes. We're potentially even further from being saved due to the man you just referenced. His mere presence manages to polarize and make dangerous, otherwise dormant and non-critical parties, biases, and actions. You can't just selectively see what you want to see. Talk of nuclear proliferation, especially for offensive purposes, hadn't been on the table since the early 70s.

Now, in an age where transitive media provides a direct line between people and their subconscious, implicit natures, where you can pick the minds and opinions of the many in less words, and less time, than it would take to ask someone a simple question, more than one party is talking about having more than enough. And threatening to slash the NASA budget for climate research and on-the-fly, up-to-date observation, is puzzling. Wouldn't you want the same agency who managed to undertake several projects outside of the Earth's atmosphere, out in the void of space, responsible for several avenues of military and civilian technology and innovation, to use the rest of its time keeping a tab on the Earth, and otherwise discovering things about the only place we can learn from trial and error, and not pay for it in full? Especially if you're going to impose said tariffs?
