I bought a small chest today and it had this design on the lid.

It looks familiar but i dont know what its from. I think it's something spiritual. Let another anon give a final answer though

OP here, the box looks exactly like this except the wood is much darker as seen in the OP pic

Someones selling it because they had a house fire and need money. To be clear, my box is a different wood, but it's clearly chinese in some way.
