Think of us like a cyber punk church.

I saw one organization already doing this but they are focusing on the life extension aspect, I think there is great demand for an even more broad transhumanist and futurist oriented church.

Currently there are some interesting technologies on the horizon, the main of which is the brain machine interface.

This would allow us to access all sorts of technologies with our cortex and perhaps even upgrade our thinking abilities and store memories on devices outside our brains as well as download new information very quickly.

Oh I know about the "nano dust" and whatnot. That is already being used, most likely.

I mean it is cool and all to daydream about becoming a cyborg. But in reality it will be abused. And quite heavily. Making that abuse easier, rather than not willingly giving in to it, is more or less just asking to one day be turned into a drone for humans who use various other technology against you, or by an AI who simply uploads its commands right into your augmentations, if not your brain itself.

I'm just here to say, church and religion of all kinds is used to makes slaves already. Transhumanism is going to be utilized in the same way. Mixing religion and transhumanism (even though I think Transhumanism is already a "religion") quite possibly the worst setup for failure I can think of for the human race. You take faith, much of it blind, and you allow that faith to lead to a technology that can literally be hijacked, all you're doing is escorting cattle to slaughter. Blind faith today is simply the place holder for what Transhumanism will bring in the future.

This is not a faith, though I would say that the mystical and esoteric nature of some of these new technologies and there power can render them spiritual and even worthy of awe in some cases.

What I am trying to do is empower people with community and knowledge and access to technology.

currently only a small group of elites have access to these technologies and the common man is left out.

Many people are becoming aware of the new technological horizon and have no outlet to pursue it or discuss it except online, even fewer know about how to access or use the technology.

We aren't trying to enslave or make cattle of anyone, just the opposite in fact.

These technologies are coming, and you can either face them head on, or get overwhelmed by them like all those companies that can't compete with the tech giants and their innovation.

It should be possible to convert the analogue signals of memory in your brain into digital signals stored in a computer once their is an module that can convert the two signal types form one to the other.

The best current theory I have heard for the functioning of the brain is from ray kurzeils book "how to create a mind"

In it he states that each neuron is responsible for recognizing low level patterns such as audio waves or visual lines and that these patterns fire up to the next set of neurons when a pattern is recognized, enough pattern recognition can add up to abstract ideas or complicated sounds and visuals.

It should be possible to develop nano machines which envelope a neuron and can stimulate or inhibit it's electrical firing, thus sending false signals to the subjects consciousness.
