Nah. Unconscious in a sense, I believe. The christians and such view angels and therefore demons as manifestations of the will of a higher power. Not their own being, but existing only to make a willed circumstance a reality, and to embody ideas that represent the values of the higher power.

Angels are semi-independent angles of God's will. They're constructs given their shape and form by being filled with the Holy Spirit to the degree that their design can take. They can make choices unlike some spirits, but they're bound to their PURPOSE. Which limits it and eliminates doubt.
