Wow, this is sooo close to being something I remember from early school, maybe even pre-school. I've been thinking about it and trying to find it for so long. Not everything is as I recall, but that is probably on me since it was long ago. Should have been around 97-98'. I almost considered this lost

I was 16 when it was in the theaters. I myself did not get scared of the natives, I found them funny actually. But it was Christmas time, there were lots of young kids in the cinemas which were packed - and all kids about 10 years old and under started screaming and crying during the native scenes. it was a film (or possibly episode of a television series) about a man who lived in the basement, possibly a boiler-type room, and occasionally would come up and do awful things to the kids.

from what i remember he generally had the appearance of an old man but may have had some sort of prosthetics.

for some reason mr magoo rings a bell, even though I am aware that that is something else entirely.

i've googled 'the man under the stairs/in the basement' and that sort of thing but can't figure it out.

i also vaguely recall this house being white and on the corner of the street.

either way whatever this was spooked the absolute fuck out of me as a kid.

Im still scared of this guy.

I remember this one vividly and it still causes unease when going to public bathrooms at times.

The show was called Tutenstein, just tried to look it up inspired by this thread, but couldn't find more than the title.
It's about some smug mummy pharao kid who comes to life in our time and befriends aome girl iirc.

In one episode they have a sleepover and to have even more fun, the mummy tries to summon some ghosts of old friends.
Things go wrong and he accidentally summons the ghost of a long deceased, ancient egyptian serial killer, who has the head of a snake.
This asshole chases the kids through the entire house in an attempt to fucking eat them alive.
When they finally hide in and lock the bathromm he pops OUT THE FUCKING TOILET and straight up snacks a kid.

Don't know if anyone can help out but shit haunts me till this day.

I meant to specify in my original post that it wasn't Freddy. It was a lot more whimsical. I very vaguely remember a bizarre piano motif but that could be my imagination. I don't think there were any scenes of outright violence like in Nightmare but there may have been subtle body horror. From the best of my recollection, it was a kids film and they had to avoid this guy in the basement. I'm not sure if that was their primary quest, however. I don't think I ever made it that far in.

It's very possible that this movie doesn't even exist and I made it up, but I hope I can eventually find it.

In Brazil we had this Tv show in the 90's. It's called "Um Banho de Aventura" wich means a shower of adventure, but I aways thought it was called "Cadê o Leo" (Where is Leo). I remember I loved this show but it was also very scary for a child.

I remember I was visiting some relatives in another country (the movie was in English) and the kids were watching a movie, and I only walked in and saw some parts and from what I recall, there was this monster creature (about 6-8 feet tall brown covered in brown fur, or possibly mud) and it would chase these kids and when it caught them they turned into mud/clay figures and they would go on a shelf. The monster was chasing the last kid and it was using one of the past captured kids voices to try to lure the kid in. There was a grocery store scene.

That's really all I remember if anybody could help that would be great. I've been looking for years.
