There was never one innocent person if the 90 people he killed every city, then when confronted by the pastors he was just getting profit and killing the innocent he lied and said he barley got paid, if at all. When in reality he was paid extensively. He would have been hung if not for coming down with sickness.

But I thought his 'tests' were even simpler than that, I had heard he just tied them up and threw them into the water, and if they drowned then, well, whoops, they weren't witches. But if they floated they were witches and had to be put to death anyway. So it was sort of a lose/lose situation for the accused.
