So, it's October and we're officially in Halloween season. People are in the mood for horror movies and I've seen a few movie recommendation threads but I want to be a little more specific. Post any horror movies that are also funny (intentionally or not). If we're gonna die, let's die from laughter. Picture related.

Watch the classics maybe?
I've got a load of Universal and Hammer films I've been watching through since September. The closer I get to Halloween, the more varied it'll get. I've mostly been going chronologically but I'm tempted to save Trick 'r Treat for Halloween.
Then again, I might just go ahead and watch it twice. Fuck it.

It's always fun to show the younglings that Count Dooku was once best known for playing Dracula. And was a metal singer and a spy in WWII.

There we go!
>>18188621
Looks like it's me and you. I'm having trouble posting, but I'll keep bumping the thread at least.
Horror and comedy have gone hand in hand for forever. I've always really appreciated the campy nature of the movies
Hopefully we can get some good ole synchtube streams up for the scaring season. Fall just slammed right into us down here and I'm so fuckin ready for Halloween
>>18188669
I appreciate it.
Hellraiser 1 is a classic and I unironically enjoy the sequels. Well at least up to Hellraiser 6, everything after that is irredeemable garbage.
>>18189190
The Hellraiser movies and the Dune books have something in common: There's a certain point, when going the the sequels, you just say "Fuck it, I'm done.". Before anyone gets butthurt, yes, when you reach that point is completely subjective.
>>18188669
Great thread, other consiously silly/horror movies not listed:
Waxwork
The Fury
Gnaw II: Food of the Gods
Blood Diner
Pieces
Rats: Night of Terror
Bloody Birthday
If you want to go classic, check out the "Abbot and Costello meet" series. As in Frankenstein('s monster), The Invisible man, all the Universal monsters basically. Obviously it's more comedy than horror.
Critters has a good mix of horror and camp. Also, trivia: While he had acted on TV before, Critters 3 is where Leonardo DiCaprio made his movie debut.
Night of the Lepus. Giant killer bunnies vs. Dr. McCoy. Seriously.
>>18190440
I watch this and Young Frankenstein every year at my grandmothers house on Halloween. It is a really good yearly movie. I consider it like "A Christmas Story" but for Halloween.
>>18188688
Oh God. My dad told me about how he watched this late one night trying to rock me to sleep. The worst.
>>18189190
I first saw Hellraiser by accident, happened to turn it on right as they move into the house and missed pinhead completely. I was blown away at how good it was, then an hour in was like "wtf THIS is Hellraiser?" Too good.
This thread is getting some really good results so a little bump and check out Tucker and Dale vs. Evil.
>>18188684
Just watched this again the other night, fucking love this flick.
>>18190448
I got to see some of the Critters props when I went to the Mansfield Reformatory haunted house last year, fucking awesome to see the actual Critters.
>>18190477
Loved this as a kid too, not too many people know it
Going to watch pic related tonight, this movie was one of my favs as a kid. I do like that the 2001 remake just took concepts from the original and made it it's own thing, both are enjoyable. The basement scene in the original always creeped me a bit.
>>18190443
God I love THE STUFF
Good to see this thread is still alive, so have some more!
>>18190477
This movie is super awesome for an extra special reason: it had Janet Leigh in it. The woman from Psycho and mother to Jamie Lee Curtis of Halloween fame so theres' that
>>18191443
oh man, William Castle was the SHIT. He was the great god of gimmicks back in the days of the theater.
THIS House is a crazy weird psychedelic horror movie from Japan that is just balls to the wall fucking weird and hilarious
>>18191264
That is one of my favorite movies. Possibly my favorite comedy.
I got to meet Matthew Lillard yesterday, mostly just wanted him to sign a copy of Hackers cause that movie is great BUT he was mostly there for Scream cause it was a horror convention.
Scream was a pretty legit movie in the 90s and it's a pretty funny spoof of the slasher franchises that were so huge at the time, it was just also a decent horror movie and spawned a series that nearly defeated it's purpose until the super-meta 4th incarnation of it that, for me, completely killed the series. So Scream isn't necessarily laugh-out-loud funny all the time, but it most certainly does play with your expectations and tropes
Elvis and a black JFK hunt down a mummy.
Yep.
>>18191494
How was he in person? I've heard that he's one of the nicer, down-to-earth people in Hollywood.
>>18191520
Also Elvis is played by Bruce Campbell. If you like horror/comedies you no longer have a reason to not see the this movie.
OP here. This thread is still alive after a day... and it's full of good recommendations and people not being complete dicks to each other. I guess the witching season really does bring out the best in /x/.
>>18191543
He was SUPER nice and really had a lot of fun. He legitimately enjoys what he does and loves his fans
Not necessarily horror, but related enough. Toxic Avenger put Troma on the map with it's goofy effects and otherworldly crude atmosphere. Watching it just might lead to you making an altar to Lloyd Kaufman, so you've been warned
Nightmare on Elm Street scared the shit out of me growing up. What can you do to Freddy Kreuger? You're in his world, he can do ANYTHING, and you HAVE to fall asleep eventually, right? What's easy to forget is how fucking campy it is right from the get go. "I'M YOUR BOYFRIEND NOW, NANCY!" it's hilarious. Wes Craven has always been a master of making you laugh when you're still expecting to be scared
>>18191669
Welcome back, OP, saved ya a seat
What's that one where the guy turns into a werewolf? there is the word boyfriend or girlfriend in the title, or a word in that nature. There was one scene when he was at the store getting some raw meat when a townsman with a double edged ax tries to ax him, but just gets himself in the back. Thanks!
>>18191792
Hm...I honestly don't know. I'll keep thinkin, though.
I was trying to get a synchtube set up to start streaming some of these movies, but I could only find links to like two of the movies we've posted so ooooh well.
Rubber...I still don't know how to describe. It's not really a horror movie, but I mean, that's about the only way to really describe it. A tire that travels around making people fucking EXPLODE. Yeah. It's weird. Some people really liked it, I wasn't one of em, but a few of you might be into it
GREMLIIIINS! Usually I watch these movies around Christmas time because...fuck it, the first one took place around then and whatever. Die Hard counts as a Christmas movie too. Gremlins is great. The cutest damned creatures in the world turn into evil monsters that want you dead. It's impossible not to have fun when you watch this
Marebito is a movie I watch every october.
Nice and spooky if you can enjoy tumbling around in a dark apartment/underground tunnels. Its one of those movies that I only "kind of liked" when I first watched it, but really only started to appreciate it more after my second viewing.
Obviously on my octobers re-watch list are all the whispering corridors movies. They be some good classics.
>>18191852
that img title, haha
speaking of azn horror, I absolutely need to see pic related. I saw the trailer for it and I'm obsessed with how goofy this is. I've watched a few Ringu movies and most, I hope, of the Ju-On movies. I just...I have to see how ridiculous this throwdown will be.
>>18191866
Checked
And wew, Japan sure loves its versus movies. The whole idea behind that is so silly that I must admit, Im damn curious about it myself.
Last spook vs spook was when I watched Tomie vs tomie. That was some shit.
>>9378951
Please help guys. I've literally been searching for years
>>18190443
the concept was interesting but its execution was absolutely dreadful and failed to maintain my interest
Poltergeist isn't comedy-horror; it's just horror. But it has some GREAT comic relief moments.
>>18191494
Damn I always forget that Wes Craven is dead. It seems nobody really made a big fuss about his passing
Great thread, my only recommendation that hasn't been posted yet is Evil Dead 2

>>18188054
This.
>>18189190
I absolutely love 1, 2 was interesting for the lore but was really wtf. I watched half of 3 before stopping, the actors sucked, they completely threw out the lore
Example: new cenobites being created by pinhead, they are supposed to only be made by labyrinthian
>>18190477
This movie is hilarious, when the rabbits attack you can see it switch to a man in a rabbit costume but good movie.
>>18194510
I just figured people generally knew bout Evil Dead, but I prolly shoulda thrown it up here if just to say, "Yeah, this is a thing"
>>18196885
All 90s horror movies? Shit, you'll be at it for awhile. If I find time today I might try to throw one together for you, if you're even still around
>>18196912
Someone just started listing rando horror. Some of it's horror comedy (Drag Me to Hell) but...Holy Mountain? How is that horror? It's Alejandro Jodorowsky waxing philosophic about alchemy. It's a great watch, but not horror.
>>18197043
Good call, this was hilarious
Pic related: Ed Wood's classic and Bela Lugosi's last film. Classic so bad it's good movie. Before The Room existed, there was this
This WAS intended to be a horror film...it's just incredibly hard to take seriously. Filmed by a fertilizer salesman in Texas, this movie was the result of a dare and not much else. It wasn't until it got the MST3K treatment in the 90s that it became the cult-classic that it is now
I watch this every halloween, I don't know why, I guess it reminds me of the Halloween specials I watched as a child.
is anyone streaming this year?
>>18188054
Thanks for making this thread OP, and thanks to all those who posted. I love horror movies, especially when they're funny. And this thread has led me to find several I had never heard of.
>>18197760
Mission accomplished, glad ya liked my recommendations. Lemme know which you enjoyed, I'm curious

OP here again. You're welcome man and like you said, thanks to everyone who contributed. It's really cool to just a see a love of movies and a lack of animosity on this board.
i see a lot of good movies bros, here is a personal fave
Shit, hold on, just gotta bump so your Halloween present makes it...
>>18197310
I do the exact same thing. Old Discovery and Travel Ch specials. Robert the Doll freaked me out as a kid and lizzy Borden.
>>18191840
Love the first movie; like to pretend the second one doesn't exist.
>>18191866
So fucking retarded. Japan did not need to start its own "Freddy VS Jason" crap with these two.
Op here again. There we go. Happy Halloween, everybody.
