I would also agree that Monster is a very, very good anime. It was shown on Sci-Fi here in America an number of years ago. I watched it, and it became a favourite. I never felt any filler when watching it and the story was actually quite original. Interesting and realistic ending to the series, worth the time to see and invest in.

I'd highly recommend all of these anime, especially the last one. It's chilling, the suspense is great and the horror is Japanese without the over-explaining and campiness that kinda goes along with that.

i absolutely loved yami shibai - they're a series of horror shorts done in a paper theatre art style (so a lot more realistic than traditional anime style).

stories are good, animation and art is unique, 9/10 fun to watch. the dancing woman one got me first time i watched it.

there should be 3 seasons of it so far, unsure if it's being renewed for another.

I really liked Mushishi and Hell Girl before they stopped being as episodic. Hell Girl has blood and gore in it, but the horror is more reminiscent of Japanese horror films or short creepypasta type stories.
