Not particularly /X/ related but I just started re-reading this series. I always really enjoyed some of the ideas and concepts it brings up. When it's not going full shonen style fights anyway. At some point in each characters backstory a lite but thoughtful overview was given of their corresponding religion or belief system. They manage to touch on some very existential concepts such as ego death in a very access way.
Has anyone else here ever read it?
>Not particularly /X/ related
You are correct. Please post in /a/, this board is for /x/ related material only.
The concepts of spiritualism are pretty heavily discussed on this board. I didn't see it as too far out there.
I really wonder how much the paranormal was in the media this generation consumed in our childhood's fueled our predilection towards the occult.

Always loved the manga and how it uses about every other mythology and the series was what got me to /x/ related stuff in the first place.
Even characters who only appear in one or two panels had interesting spirits or stories which were only revealed in the KZB Extras like the Greek shaman who smuggled the skeletons of the Spartoi into Japan or the guy whose guardian spirit was literally Pennywise. The character designs were simply amazing.
Some of my other highlights include all of Horohoro's backstory, the Roadtrip through the US and the Patch Fights, especially the last one which suddenly related the entire Shaman Fight to Ancient Astronauts.
If you ever want to check out this series, go for the manga, not the anime. The anime has an original story about halfway in which was pretty bad compared to the manga.
Pic related, best fight and second best girl
Never /X/.
If horror movies fit /x/, definetly Shaman King does. Even Casper The Friendly Ghost.
