what came first, the reptile or the egg?

the question is at what point did the creature that hatched from the egg transition to the creature we talk of through evolution. like, the egg existed before the creature beacuse it hatched from the egg, but can the creature that laid the egg be considered the same as it's firstborn if they ere genetically the same/different?

like at what point does a single grain of sand transition to a heap and all that jazz, Ship of theseus etc.

and frankly...I experienced something similar to what she is talking about, minus the boo-hooing; The times I smoke indica, I have a trip that is "transcending", but I think that's just the chemicals that are influencing my mind. Perhaps she does the same, but makes it sound more spiritual ?
