here is a famous text from a famous Christian author on Gnosticism

he was originally called, by the Greek name: Εἰρηναῖος, or as we know him, in English, Irenaeus of Lyons

i do not necessarily agree with Irenaeus on all things, but it is worth a read for anybody interested in gnosticism... at least the beginning part which i will post in this thread

as you read the text, this is a historical account of Gnostic beliefs, and they believe a great bewildering variety of beliefs of deities and things that you've never even heard of... that style of Gnosticism really strikes me as somethin akin to Paganism... you'll see what I mean if you read that text (it's famous, btw)

1. 2. Error, indeed, is never set forth in its naked deformity, lest, being thus exposed, it should at once be detected. But it is craftily decked out in an attractive dress, so as, by its outward form, to make it appear to the inexperienced (ridiculous as the expression may seem) more true than the truth itself. yes, I devouted myself completely (nofap since december, I know its not much but it was difficult anyways)
I gave God my whole life (I often pray for suffering in the name of salvation of other people, this particular prayer is... super effective I suppose) and I also think that God is the most important being in our lives;
I also attend to mass every sunday, Eucharist once a week and thanks to that I managed to let God talk to me more freely as I chose Him over the world; He speaks in the specific manner: You always know for sure He gave you a message but it is always very personal
if you are curious im catholic

From what I understand God cannot communicate directly with anyone without destroying them so he uses symbolism.
