Hey /x/, I need your help with something.
There's a really specific trope that I enjoy, which is the residents of a world living completely normally, even though they may be surrounded by grotesque and horrifying things. Things like the eraserhead baby, the entirety of OFF, or frampt and kaathe from dark souls.
theres something i find extremely unsettling about people just ignoring horriffic things, and just living with and accepting these things in their everyday life.
Can anyone give me more examples of this? In video games, tv shows, movies, or whatever?
thank you!!!

>Things like the eraserhead baby
To be fair even in the messed up Eraserhead world the people were pretty freaked out by that thing.

In Men in Black everyone at the MIB agency is pretty used to everything going on except J. The afterlife bureaucrats in Beetlejuice might be another example, and Beetlejuice himself kinda.

That's kind of what im talking about - but im more looking for when it's not played for laughs.

Problem Sleuth is pretty good in that regard, crazy inhabitants and lovecraftian horrors sorrounded by normal unphased people, though it gets a little esoteric. More humour than surreal horror though.

That is pretty particular. Played OFF, bretty good.
I would suggest Half Life 2 as it's the only thing that really evokes that feeling that I can think of. Of course it's an action FPS, but then again dark souls was a hack 'n slash metroidvania. it is very likely you have played through it though

Try a Study in Emerald by Neil Gaiman
The old PC game Harvester is pretty much what you're looking for, OP.
