By the age of 23 I got my first apparently non manipulated abduction. I saw consciously the light coming from the window, and thought I knew it was the first time I saw it, I already perfectly knew what was happening and what was going to happen (interesting thought they seem to know how to manipulate the conscious but not the subconscious) then I got paralized and taken to the light. Once inside I was already laying in that alien bed or plattform. I could see them doing things. The well known greys. I tried to see all of that, controlling the extreme scare I was experiencing. Without any communication, one of them came close to me and paralized I got something in my ear. I got so scared I almost became inconscious. But them another of them came and made the same thing in my right testicle.

The third one did nothing, he was in the right side observing. Without any word the light involved me again and I felt how I was coming back to my room. Althought I believed that I was being abducted, such an experience made me consider going to the psychologist. But I'd rather think about what happened. I came to the conclusion that they knew what I wanted (to know more) and they understood. They allowed me to be conscious in this test, paralized thought. They would analize how do I react to that and consider if I am able or not to continue or go back to mental manipulation. I understood their probable plan. I understood they're nothing but scientists. They were the human and I was the chimpanzee. But why doesn't this scare dissapear?

It actually did, months after that. Since then I have some conscious abductions where I can't see or ask any other thing. At least not yet. But it became clear to me that they do not want to harm us, the opposite. And they are not evil. I think they're trying to understand us. Or testing us. Doing any scientific research where we are the subjects. If it was a bad thing they wouldn't care about pain and suffering. But they consider it and try to make it the more easy for the subject as he can. Memory erase and manipulation doesn't seem an easy thing. They might developed it for humans just for us having the lesser terrorific sessions as possible. I wish they could interact with the subjects and let us know, but it seems than it's not in their actual to-do list.

looking for a certain story I read a while back

I need to read it again to corroborate some things I've learned since

I don't know where to find it, so I'm going to provide what I remember:

A fisherman retells a story of meeting some aliens. He rescues one of them after their ship crashed in the water, and they decide to reward him by sharing a little knowledge of themselves

they detail their society - key portions include how they travel through the stars, educate themselves, power their civilization using thorium reactors, with advanced 'animal-like' automation/robotics and self-driving cars - they're about 200 years ahead of us technologically

They are sort of amphibian, bipedal, their planet is larger and more massive than earth, but almost entirely covered in water with very little land available. The society is communistic, there is a leader but he gets no special privileges and must work like everyone else. Everyone does basic maintenance jobs in society, working a few hours a week or similar to keep things in working order.

Their technology puts reusability and durability well above other considerations, with things meant to last for tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of years.
