I am confused.
According to the vedic scripture our atman(soul) is only SAT (Existence) and it is missing Chit(consciousness) and ananda(peace).
So does this means that our soul is in deep slumber? Because according to the scriptures the brain and atman are two different things.
I've read in books by Joshua David Stone that according to other spiritual ventures by people dedicated to it and loving it that spiritual growth slows down incredibly when you die and your spirit goes back to the soul (or rather when your soul goes back to the spirit, I forget which order it's in).
Our living bodies spiritually grow much faster and are connected to other spirits to the soul of the same monad.
It goes from greatest to least iirc
Godhead -> xxx -> Monad -> Soul -> Spirit
And you're in direct control of your spirit and the living people in each group of souls is a few people/spirits and that this web of people's spirits connects to other people in the same soul and by spiritually growing yourself those people in your group are elevated as well.
So yes, we are very likely separated into many small pieces of the same whole which are cut up into even smaller pieces resulting in our own individuality.
At least according to those books, but I hardly doubt somebody would bullshit on the topic where there isn't really much money in comparison to others and one in which so many people would incredulously skim through and over and give it a bad rap because it's "ridiculous".
It's a pretty neat compilation of all spiritual stuff which supports the idea of a common ground behind religions and concepts of spirituality.
Joshua David Stones Complete Ascension Manual, for the more incredulous, it's really up to you whether you believe it or not.
I see no point in not believing.
