LaVeyan satanism has little to do with devil worship or lucifer for that matter. All you will find is an atheist sect that is based on elitsm and hedonism, oh, and they charge for entry.

Satanism requires the alchemical transfiguration of oneself in entirety; Satanic praxis often advocates for totalizing psychosocial betterment. It is the self-perfecting religion of the individual in relation to Satan. Whether or not Satan appears as an object, idea, entity, force is dependent upon the ideological perceptions of the approacher. Fundamentally, Satanism is about an exoteric/esoteric relationship of sorts with a face of Satan. Essential to almost all religious forms, Satanism reflects individual freedom, thinking and living.

Also that's the wrong pentagram for Satanism. That is the one used by Wiccans and neo-Pagans. The point is oriented up to represent man's spiritual nature. The Satanic pentagram is oriented downward in reference to man's carnal nature.

Now, if it's devil worship you want you're welcome to pursue that, but that's different from Satanism, and I can't offer much advice on that. Satanism isn't a deific religion, but it's also not atheistic. Our view on gods is a bit different. In short, we believe that they were fabricated by humans as a way to externalize things that we could accept about ourselves or rationalize with our chosen system of morality. They exist, but not as all-powerful rulers of the universe. Just as vessels for the shame and self-loathing of humans.

This anon isn't wrong. Although it's not like you have to shell out to call yourself a Satanist. It's a philosophy with some accompanying ritual for those who like rituals. Now, if you want to get more deeply involved, join the clergy, etc, yes, there is a membership fee (though it's a one-time expense, as compared to same Christian sects that want a percentage of your income) but it doesn't sound like you want to get that deeply involved with it anyway.

I've been into Satanism for close to half my life, but only got serious about it more recently. As I've grown older I've become more accepting of the LHP, realizing that it's something you're born into and that suppressing your true nature makes for an unfulfilling life.

I have never been part of a Satanic organization and, for the most part, have never wanted to associate with any of them. I've always been highly critical of them, such as theistic Satanists who I see of as crazies or insincere reverse-Christians.

Other atheistic Satanist groups also irk me. For example I cannot stand the Satanic Temple. I utterly abhor them and their leader Lucean Graves. They are nothing more than the SJWs of edgelords, and their SJWisms are a sign of personal weakness which to me is the equivalent to the Original Sin for Satanists.

Karla LaVey and Peter Gilmore are less reprehensible to my tastes, but both suffer from another great Satanic sin - they are boring. They are the Satanists of yore, their ceremonies still entrenched in the era in which the Church of Satan was founded. They are, quite simply, the old guard and their time is at an end. Anton himself said that aesthetics was important, and I feel that both have failed in this respect. Try to watch their ceremonies without falling asleep.

On the other hand recently I've found some LaVeyan Satanist offshoots that speak to me more than the old guard has. Thomas LeRoy of the Sect of the Horned God speaks a lot of sense and shares much of the same criticisms I have of other Satanists. While he is no Satanic messiah I feel he's worth listening to and I've been considering joining the sect for the sake of reading through his courses as I find it impressive that he encourages those that reach the highest ranks to do with the knowledge what they will, including leaving to form their own independent groups.
