I'd like to believe there are ascended people, many, but the amount of people that are ordinary truly, incredibly dwarf their presence. You aren't initially created divinely extraordinary, you refine yourself and your own which in turn helps you ascend to that level gradually. Also, I wouldn't think that most if any of these people turn to use their powers malevolently without being met by a swift reaction. I would trap the spirits of edgy gods inside human vessels of ugly weebs and NEETs. First i would secure a castle outside civilization and live there as a NEET, with mind controlled servants to cater to my needs.
