I guess they're not exactly incompatible systems- the KOS has talismans for dealing with those spirits, and general purification and protection for dealing with them, and the Arbatel provides spirits to work with.

And this guy http://www.theomagica.com/arbatel_ophiel/ actually uses things like hymns from PGM, someone else used Orphic hymns for them. Perhaps those spirit don't really care about how they are summoned, or it all is simply not needed? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the method from Arbatel to summon them rather simple and it doesn't uses much equipment? Perhaps they could be evoked just using, circle, incense/mirror and the correct time?

The instructions within the Arbatel itself are breddy straightforward, yeah. You can basically just use the opening and closing prayers if you want.

Thing is that Arbatel is just the introductory book of a much larger work, so there COULD have been much more involved in the other books, but they haven't come down to us. Different methods seem to work for it though.

I hear the Secret Grimoire of Turiel works with the same spirits but with a completely different structure, but I haven't read it

im gonna post my most likely failed, (almost) entirely impulse-based attempt at summoning yesterday

Done with Vapula summoning.

I took the usual bath, I had read in Modern Magick that when you're done, you shoud stay in the bath until the water drains and imagine the negativity washing away with you. So I did that but I added the extra step of blasting myself with cold shower water (the bath water had been hot) while it drained and that felt pretty amazing.

This was also my first time using incense, scrying mirror (which i put outside of triangle for room reasons, not sure if that is a mistake or not), and a pendulum. I found the pendulum enormously helpful, especially since I still haven't heard voices or sensed thoughts.

Sorry if I'm being wordy, I use these as notes the next day when I write it down in my ritual diary.

In this sense, I mean "the spirit/deity/whatever of a place".
Animism and shinto type stuff don't really ever come up here very much.

For example, the kami of my forest appears as a giant spider.
For years, I was absolutely terrified to go out wandering the woods at night, because I always felt like there was something YUUUUGEEE walking right behind me, and that creeped me the fuck out.
Then one night I was like "fuck it, show yourself, let's talk".
Turns out she's really cool actually, and her physical avatars' silk contains a very potent hallucinogen.

tl;dr, exotic demons are rad, but we often overlook the "normal" or "everyday" spirits, even though they're also pretty awesome.

Not sure, because there were so many toads, most of which I couldnt see unless they were moving because it had gotten thoroughly dark. The toad or whatever in my dream looked like a toad but from what I remember it had blue eyes instead of the typical whatever frogs have, and it had a really dark green and large black stripes across it almost like a tiger's but more pronounced.

shaman guy here. i was not expecting so much interest. put myself on the spot. i will first start off by saying i use shaman as a general term. i have studied many religions and spirits associated with them. spirits are all around us and some are very subtle while others move the world and universe. some are so powerful it is beyond our comprehension. some even used to be human. they come from many worlds and dimensions and from my experience many do not like to be pigeonholed (classified by type or name as many spirits are one in the same and use different names and forms to suit their mood or the person they show themselves to)

Spirits/deities/whatever often tend to show up with slightly different names, but it is clear they're the same being.
One good example of that being what the Mexicans call "the white lady", la santa muerte.

i have no particular ritual i use to communicate with spirits. that isn't saying you don't need one. some spirits prefer you do this. it mostly depends on what feels right to you. i mostly don't summon the spirits to me. i go to them through astral projection. many spirits are true to their nature and don't have any intention to be otherwise. they know the way they are and are fine with it. if you don't like certain traits of a spirit then communication with them is not advised. also be yourself around them too. they respond well to that. also, most important. BE RESPECTFUL. some spirits jobs are literally to help humans, but that doesn't mean you can treat them poorly. even the weakest spirits will have a trump card.

for me personally i rarely ask spirits for help. i just find the ones where interest is mutual and form a relationship. it is just like meeting new people. i do have my own personal goals for this, but i am upfront about it and the ones that like me don't mind. i feel they just enjoy the company. i can tell a story of one spirit i asked for help for a friend of mine

i do not follow any specific tradition or i should say i follow them all. my origin in these studies came from an eastern point of view (Shinto, Buddhist and Hindu) i branched from there and found all spiritual arts have aspects i like and some i don't. like i said before it isn't always about rituals or incantation mostly the feeling involved. so it is something difficult for me to explain. i have used rituals before when asking for help.

usually astral projection is my method, but cannot be done all the time. i have also never taught anyone, because i am no master yet. so it is hard for me to say if it will work for others. i find it easiest on monday at dawn or dusk. not sure why monday, but may be because i am a child of the moon. it happens between states of consciousness. it is very easy if my body or soul is in a state of peril. (illness spiritual or physical, negative energies aimed directly at me). it is very useful for cleansing these and for cleansing area's surrounded by tama. (my preferred term for negative energy or entities). the experience always starts the same. in my house (my own spiritual domain) then i walk out the door and i am never in the same place unless i go to the domain of a friend. it can be quite scary and have seen things you can't nightmare about. sometimes you must be invisible to surrounding presence. many times spirits will just look very frightening, but are very nice. try not to show your fear. i have never been locked outside my body or lost my way. i have a natural sense of direction and really i just feel the world around me. i have heard of this happening though.

to start astral projection, training took a while. meditation is important, but lucid dreaming is very important. it creates a sense of self awareness in a realm that isn't the physical one. this training will help a lot. also you have to know yourself mentally, physically and speak to your inner spirit. this can be done through meditation of any type. remember that meditation doesn't have to be an idle state of silence. it can be physical too. whatever you can do without focus (walking, riding a bike etc) and let your mind flow. you don't try to think of anything or stop any thought from entering your mind. you let them pass like like clouds in the sky.

So, it seems like Sitri is a prince. Do I need to do a offering just to welcome him? In the matters of the offering, can I just put some alcholic drink in the triangle together with his seal and incense?

shaman story time though. i had a friend that was abused and i asked Selene (my spirit guide) if she knew any spirits who could help with healing and cleansing. she guided me to a Lwa spirit named Silibo. she is a spirit of fire and water. her realm was so bright you couldn't see anything except the sun. she came down upon me engulfing me in flames. they were not hot though. it was the opposite it felt very soothing. i believe it was her way of testing my purity. no words were spoken, she knew why i was there. she blessed my emblem i made for my friend. it was only a moment and then she was gone. an unspoken promise was made and i held my promise and made her offerings. no sacrifice or anything like that. i don't deal with spirits that ask of such things.i wore all blue with a sun on the shirt (her favorite color) i took a saucer that would float down to a lake and filled the bottom with lake water and burned a candle in the center. i offered a necklace i made of stars. i was told she likes jewelry with stars or suns on it. i prayed thanks to her until the candle was burned and sent it out into the lake and waited until it was out of sight.

To summon the shrankle, you must take a knife to a lamb. You will let the lamb stab you in the heart and pull out your liver. After the lamb devours your entire liver in one bite, shoot him with grandpa's .22 rifle that he always keeps right behind the bed. Rip the lambs stomach/intestines (depends on how long it took you to shoot him) and take the liver back out, dip it in saline, and surgically put it back into your body. Then a small cat like creature named shrankle will come out and grant you 3 wishes. If you wish for anything other than death to other people, shrankle will break every last bone in your body so slowly, that by the time he finishes, your fingers will already be somewhat healed, allowing him to start the process again, and again.
