The way I see it is this.

They approached a body and were horrified. Obviously due to reaction it was gruesome. The person who made the video wouldn't post "Brandon is now dead" if they were the ones who found him. Seeing as how they wouldn't need to specify since it's obvious in the video.

My theory: is that the men were maybe looking for a missing friend, who they were NOT supposed to find. And they stumbled upon him. The party who killed the man captured one or multiple of these men and hijacked their video with the overlay "brandon is now dead" meaning they may have killed one of the men in the video whos name was brandon for digging deeper where he wasn't supposed to be.
