"The Devil You Know" by Mike Carey, 1st of the Felix Castor series. Carey wrote the "Lucifer" Sandman spin-off, and many issues of "Constantine: Hellblazer". Felix Castor is a Constantine clone, lots about wards and demons. And drinking hard. I think there's six books in the series. The first is the best.

If you haven't read Lovecraft, you should. A favorite /x/ author. Stephen King, too. I'm assuming you've read Poe.

I can recommend the work of Laurell K. Hamilton. After the first few books in the Anita Blake series it turns into porn, which is unfortunate, but she writes well and the plots are mostly paranormal mysteries or monster politics.

It's cool. The first two books can work as stand alone works, because the metaplot really gets going in book 3. Also, the first three books are formulatic and generic, so you can just skim them or leave them out entirely. Anyways, 15 novels, a couple of visual novels, a tabletop RPG, and a shitton of short stories... It's a great and fun read all in all

Definitely read Pet Semetary if you have seen the movie.

If you want Steven King that's more along the lines of what you requested. Try the Gunslinger series.
