The thing that made me 100% beleive the earth is flat are the people I went to to convince me it was round.

You challenge someone, a friend, who's on the roof of a nearby skyscraper. He has a nicer telescope, but is far lower. He has to spot the same boat, as though you are playing I-Spy.
He will be unable to 100% of the time under all circumstance, because his Visible Horizon is shorter- the boat will be hid by the nearby ocean. This has been done before under the Bedford Level Experiment, which by the end of the series conclusively demonstrated the curvature of the Earth. You can try it yourself, if you can find a suitably tall building and a landmark to point out.
