I remember reading about a sighting from a cop, who flashed a light on two men standing in the shadows smoking only to reveal that they had dog heads. Apparently they literally vanished into thin air, leaving their cigarettes behind.

Stories of dog headed people arose across Europe and Asia in the Dark Ages when travel wasn't so common. The theme of these stories was always that the dog headed people were somewhere else, a long way away, whichever part of the world the story was being told. And of course when people travelled to 'there', there were no dog headed people, just the same stories of 'somewhere else.'
