Primary skills like tarot/scrying/runes divination have plenty of materials regarding them that you can go to. Also, keep a regular meditation practice and do energy work. Qigong, yoga, taichi, psi balls, mental constructs, etc. are all good for energy work. It will make your magick potent.

I'd suggest finding resources and learning information pertaining to the subject matter like:
The pentagram's meaning in occult

It represents the universe .. the 5 points are elements. Air, fire, earth, water, and spirit. The circle around it represents the cycles of the universe (I.E. life, death, the seasons, rotations.. you'll notice a lot more.).

You will want to learn more about runes and how they work.. the runes the Norse used to write held power.. but they mostly passed on tradition through mouth because they believed words held more power.

Look at pic related, it's a rune. (It is Algiz, for protection) what you do is draw it out with your intent (fehu for example brings you luck, money, and things along those lines) on anything (it can be your skin, a piece of paper you wanna carry with you, your wallet, you get the idea) and it'll function.
