I just wanted to show off that Frank has an element of horror to him. I mean, here is a guy who is in love with war, killing ect. And he makes a deal with something. Whatever that voice is. To have his very own private war. To keep killing people. This story implies that Frank kills because he loves it and not for revenge or for his sense of justice.

I'm not really into comics, but I fucking love Punisher. I've read them way too many times to be healthy.
And I have to say that out of all the scenarists who worked on that glorious motherfucker , I can't agree more than with Garth Ennis 's depiction of Frank Castle. It always bothered me to see shit like "ye man it's just like Batman but he uses guns and he kills". Way too many people label Punisher as an edgy gunman who swore to hunt criminals after the loss of family members.
The way I see him is that he's a "raw moralist". Not the kind of "protect the law" bullshit but the guy who is symbiotically devoted to apply his gut sense of morals and justice. It's known to everyone passed the age of 12 that morals, laws and ethics are pure social constructs that we follow out of custom, fear of the state's repression, conformism, securityor whatever the fuck you believe in. But the problem is that way too many people dismiss any sense of moral and justice once they realize that little fact, if the written law is a human system then they will systematically label anything that implies punishing certain behavior as the same. But it's not the case at all. Moral relativism is a plague to the mind.
There's an innate sense of morals that can't be made up nor rationally explained, it's disgust. Spontaneous disgust and indignation when you witness wrong doings. We all know these feelings they tell us that the son of a bitch doing that shit in front of us deserves a good beating.
From a modern mzn perspective, It's actually relevant that you qualify F.Castle as a messed up individual. Because a guy like this is disturbing for both the lawmen and the criminals. He has no place at all in modern society. One side defends social constructs and gets its own principles of justice lost in bureaucracy crap and the other side just satisfies its own desires by stepping on the weak. Then you have one guy who doesn't give a shit

F.Castle is incompatible with things like State's exclusive right to resort to violence. Individuals like him are not allowed, they're intruders on a reserved playground. The shepherd has his feeling of power, the wolf does harm without much trouble and the sheep feels in safety. Law wants you to repress these feelings, they're too savage and dark. This is the voice talking to Frank nothing but his raw instinct.In the Punisher Max series, Bullseye tries to reenact Frank's life to distinguish the steps of his transformation into what he is, he even kidnaps a whole family and pretends they are his wife and children to simulate the central park shooting. But he realizes that there was never a transformation to begin with, he is a man whose primal senses of killing and judging have been preserved from inhibition.
