I don't think it is particularly likely. Primates had some very interesting evolutionary paths, but there is really no "Holy shit! That came outta nowhere with no transitory species" kinda thing. There might be some kind of "membership application" artefact somewhere in our solar system. It's proximity to earth or mars would depend on how picky the club is.

You should read Food of the Gods by Terrance McKenna. He theorizes this exact thing. Early humanoids were exposed to psilocybin mushrooms for millenia in the African grasslands. To think ey had no effect on our conciousness is short-sighted. Some the oldest cave paintings from that region depict the psychedelic experience from the perspective of the mushroom shaman.

I believe mushrooms can progress cognitive thinking so seems sensible that primitive minds were benefited by them. Crazy to imagine that they came from space on a crashing rock

Why fungi?
