What gun is the stereotypical "Paranormal survivalist" gun?

Like, Imagine an Inspector traveling at night, and finds a road in the woods with a blood trail" What is the gun you imagine him brandishing?
>>
Pump shotgun. Can be loaded with homemade rounds with stakes, holy water, white ash, etc.
>>
>>17398908
True, true. What kind of handgun?
>>
>>17398922
38 special. that old noir feel, snubnose because he's not primarily a gun user and concealability/ease of use is important. rock solid reliable, will never fail, for when that shot really must count.
>>
>>17398938
That's what i'm talking about, you get it! And exactly on point with the snub nose.

Hey not bad... not sure if it rings the feel of the scary situation, but.. you know what, now that I think about it, this gun could work, it's good looking too.

While Americans were carrying 1911s and Model 10s in the 1970's, if you were an inspector in West Germany you might have carried a Walther >>17398988

Definitely the shotgun, usually double barrelled and yeah, modded to fire all kinds of stuff.

The next on the ranged weapon list would be a crossbow.
>>
shotgun
bond arms snake slayer for pistol/shotgun goodness, it also looks old, you might like it.

I feel like I want to put in a recommendation for a Luger too, they have kind of a spooky/occult past as well.

In the US, Anything classic like a 1911, or Browning High power. A high powered revolver will also fit the bill.

I'd say shotgun for the obvious power and versatility, but honestly not many people carry those in their vehicles outside of rural areas, plus a semi auto handgun is easier to navigate with and has more capacity with high capacity removable clipazines.

Well, some real paranormal investigators and researchers did carry these.

The 3rd Reich was heavily invested in paranormal research and artifact hunting etc, They were found in the rural middle east, Antarctica and all kinds of other out of the way locations with questionable tactical usefulness.

You're an /x/phile so I'm sure I don't need to tell you about the Thule and Vrill societies etc.

TLDR:

Germans lived Lovecrafts books and carried these guns.

You know nothing. You don't have to modify shotguns to shoot different ammo. You load the shells themselves with special loads.

Crossbows are for small children and fags.

Agreed, there's also no reason the shotgun needs to be old.

Most shotguns if not all can hold custom loads so long as they're in the proper shell caliber.

Pic related would be my choice, load it up with a few choice shells, white ash, silver, etc.

Just fire until you get the right kinda' round.

You do if you're firing slugs or shot through various chokes, you know-it-all know-nothing. Good shotguns come with multiple barrels just for this purpose. You fire a slug through a choked barrel and it blows up in your face, jack.

and when that shot really must count it won't do much against a paranormal spook, 'cause it's a .38 special. if it has to be a snubnose revolver go with a .357. Recoil isn't anywhere as bad as you'd think with a .357. And to be extra sure that it'll slow down if not downright stop what's attacking you make some silver hand loads.

>>17403880
The five-seven is a good weapon, I own one personally. With proper ammunition, usually from EliteAmmunition it has power on par or better than a .45 ACP round.

Fair deuce.
I'd probably main one of these though, it's rapid firing while still reliable as dicks.
Plus, given the resources, you could make any number of different slug types for use with certain nasties.

BAH! NOTHING IN THREAD BUT RICH CAPITALIST PIG DOGS WHO ARE WISHING TO END UP AS DEAD MEN WITH EXPENSIVE TOYS AT THE HAND OF HORRIBLE CREATURES. ONLY WEAPON YOU ARE OF NEEDINGS IN FIGHT AGAINST SUPERNATURAL MENACE IS RIFLE OF SERGEI IVANOVICH MOSIN AND LEON NAGANT MODEL OF 1891.

M91 MOSIN RIFLE IS ELEGANT LIKE MOVES OF ANNA PAVLOVA AND BEAUTIFUL AS PAINTING IN GOVERNMENT APPROVED STATE SPONSORED ART EXHIBIT. BUT IS ALSO TOUGH AND DURABLE, UNLIKE PLASTIC RIFLE OF DECADENT WESTERNERS. THE 7.62 ROUND IS CAPABLE OF STOPPING ANY MAN, BEAST, OR CAPITALIST AT ONE-HUNDRED PLUS METERS. FOR TOUGHER DEMON AND HELLSPAWN IT WOULD BE SUGGESTING OF PROCUREMENT OF WHITE ASH OR BLESSED WATER AT LOCAL RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH.

BUT WHATEVER YOU AM OF DOINGS, DO NOT LOAD DOWN RIFLE WITH DUMB SHIT. I AM WELL AWARES AMERICAN YANKEE DODDLES AM IN LOVE WITH PICK OF TINNY RAILS AND PLASTIC STOCK THAT COULD NOT CRACK EGG, BUT RESIST YOUR IMPROPER URGES AND USE RIFLE AS SERGEI INTENDED. ATTACHMENT OF STATE APPROVED OPTIC FROM COMMISSAR AND OBREZ MODIFICATIONS MAY BE APPLIED IN DIRE CONDITIONS, BUT YOU MUST REMEMBER; AS IT IS NOW, RIFLE IS FINE!

You're right, but most chokes can be screwed out without replacing the barrel. And there are plenty of chokes that can have slugs fired through them without any hiccups.

The main reason to swap the barrel is to change the weapon's length or to go from a smooth bore to rifled bore for sabot slugs.
