Have we ever tried to scan photons/light from the cosmos to decode for hidden alien messages? Pretty sure camera technology is there now. I mean Li-fi is almost a thing now right? Maybe the aliens communicate across vast distances using light. Its one of the fastest things we know of existing. Hell of a lot faster than stone age radio waves. As she said near the end there, maybe were just "Not listening for the right messages".

Someone let me know what they think. =)
>>
Oh wow. Some random person on /x/ figured it all out. Someone call NASA. You're so smart OP.
>>
>>17384510
Thx, i was actually thinking the same thing.

isn't smoking pot under water a risk for health?
>>
How fucking cool would it be to get on some alien wifi and browse the alien interwebs? lol

just realized by the look of the plastic bag they did it in their 0g plane. May be a must to cover the smell of vomit.

radio waves are light, though.

why do you lie?

radio WAVES
light can be both a particle AND a wave.
And its fast as fuck.

Nothing is illegal in space.

No. No they aren't.
>>
>>17384543
why did you link that to me? I know that OP didn't.

I'll just leave.

Radio waves are a type of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum longer than infrared light. Radio waves have frequencies from 300 GHz to as low as 3 kHz, and corresponding wavelengths ranging from 1 millimeter (0.039 in) to 100 kilometers (62 mi).

first impression, definitely not buying that one a drink kinda think. fuck you
>>
>>17384586
Radio waves are absolutely light, as are infrared waves, visible waves, ultraviolet waves, and x-rays! Another way to put this is that all of these waves are just different frequencies/wavelengths of photons, and photons are light.

you copied the first fucking thing google spat out to you.

>implying alien communication travels through any area of subspace.
>allowing time to pass between the point of transference and reception.
haha.

You have been seriously misinformed.

how do you feel, son?

So quantum Entanglement then?

Well fuck, how are we supposed to listen to that?
>>
>>17384607
We're not. Not yet.
>>
>>17384501

This cant be real, there's no way the authorities that organize space flight would allow for drugs to be brought on any mission
>>
>>17384837
Doesn't matter if they allowed it or not. Who would be stupid enough to light up in that environment? I mean, how would they enjoy the weed? Open flame? Baking? Slowly smuggling the parts to build a vaporizer?

No matter what you do - the exhale is going to introduce all sorts of shit into the atmosphere of a tiny space that recycles all the air. It's a dangerous and unnecessary tax on the scrubbers.

Pot in space would just be dumb.

Speed of light communications is not an effective approach for communicating in the cosmos, as it's way too slow.

Anybody else out there that's developed the tech needed for long range coms would have done so with something we have yet to understand.

Lol you fucking retard

you two are stupid as fuck
>>
>>17385840
whats wrong? hes correct.
thats basically the fundamental problem with condensing micro/macrophysics[sic] into a general theory, because at that point nothing makes sense and everything explodes, or at least functions disparingly.
>>
>>17384602
No, he's right.
Light means a macroscopic collection of photons acting classically. This means it acts as a wave, as per Maxwell. It travels at c, just like a single photon.
Radio waves are just light waves where the photons are of particularly low energy.
t. physics
>>
>>17386500
Light can't be a particle OR a wave, it's a quantum field. That is much more subtle than either a particle or a wave. You could think of the state of the photon fields as a sum (more like an integral) over all classically allowed field states (solutions to Maxwell's equations), each classical state weighted by a complex number, but the fundamental idea is that it's a weighted mix of classical states. This is the action functional formalism, and it's not commonly used in practice, in favour of path integrals, but it's pretty clear what the states are and how they're much more subtle than just "it's a particle or a wave".
