definitely an actual thing as far as the experience goes but as to whether you are literally leaving your body or if it just appears/feels/seems that way, I don't think we can really say.

Astral projecting is not dreaming.
Dreaming is you exploring the etheric plane while Astral is the actually astral plane.

2 different things.

Etheric is your own plane that you create in your own consciousness.

While the astral is a spiritual realm created by source itself that can be entered by anyone who is willing to give time and practice.

Oh hey you know you can meditate in a lucid dream too, but not if you close our eyes (well it doesn't work for me)
