Not a death exactly but I always found the case of Elmer Mccurdy fascinsting.

He was a train robber in the 1800s and was killed in a shootout by police. It was custom back then sometimes to preserve the corpses of criminals to put on display and charge people 25 cents to look at the body.

I guess he had no family so they sold the corpse to a carnival and they put his body on display across the country and made up different stories for him and dressed him up and shit. I guess he got passed around and was even stolen a few times. He ended up in a haunted house in California and the owners thought he was a prop but someone accidentally broke off one of his arms and discovered he was a real corpse. This was in the 1970s.

I want my body to be sold to a carnival when I die.

Remember years ago a news story by Dan Rather about a man who committed suicide with a machine he created. It was essentially a cutting machine which slowly sliced him to death. It was only an evening broadcast ending and it was the only time I saw it. I think he even filmed it, but it must be lost now. Anyway, a strange and horrible way to die.
