If by "looking to expand your library" you mean you actually want to see some of the "cores" of anime, I'd probably watch the first season of Lupin, and Cagliostro afterwords. MSG/Z/ZZ/CCA, Marcoss, and do you remember love, Patlabor, and it's movies, Tenchi Muyou, Slayers, along with the movies, Utena, GitS1/2. And basically any of the classics that are generally highly regarded and referenced today still.

Akira is shit and only memorable for the bicycle parts, It'd be better to actually read the manga instead imo. But yeah since you haven't heard of any of those you'd probably be better off watching the top 100 on mal, it's mostly shit but it's pretty much the "normalfag" core minus a few actually good titles.

Looks like you mostly have a taste for light action/adventure fantasy stuff, but that might just be a result of minimal exposure to anime. I think most of those have dubs or are otherwise available on casual streaming sites.

For a lot of the older titles you see listed in this thread you'll probably have to torrent them.

I'm gonna suggest you Kara no Kyoukai for some point, it's a series of dark thriller movies ranging from 45 mins to 2 hours presented out of chronological order but it all comes together at some point. Some of the best animation, music and choreography that anime has to offer, well worth watching.
